The Mentalist: CBS Show Renewed for Seventh (Final?) Season

by Trevor Kimball, May 10, 2014

Mentalist season 7The show was in danger of being cancelled but CBS has decided to renew The Mentalist for a seventh season.

On The Mentalist, the Red John mystery is over and the very observant Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) continues to help solve other cases in Texas. Also starring in the show are Robin Tunney, Tim Kang, Owain Yeoman, Amanda Righetti, Emily Swallow, and Rockmond Dunbar.

There’s no word on the episode order for season seven as yet but it will likely be for 13 installments, which will wrap up the series.

What do you think? Are you glad to hear that The Mentalist is coming back for a seventh season? Do you think this should be the end?

Glad the mentalist continues. Its one of the few decent shows on television. I hate to say it but most everything else on Tv is just plain bad.

I’ve got to agree with Lance. A better timeslot at maybe another Network. The Mentalist writers are doing a good job with Jane & Lisbon but whats with the new FBI cast members? They do nothing but make up the numbers! Go for broke Mentalist writers – Use every arrow in your Quiver, Jane and Lisbon will run out of stuff to do very soon. Jane is carrying the show….

Smart move CBS! I look forward every week to seeing what new trouble Patrick would get himself into and out of. The new cast works well and the stories are perfect. I do miss the husband and wife team…Keep it fresh and it should last.

RE: THE MENTALIS
I got pretty sick of Red John and was both glad to see it end and disappointed with the outcome. Now, though, this show is just another FBI show with a different setting from other FBI shows proving that things actually do happen in places other than NYC, LA, and occasionally, Chicago or Boston. There is nothing to differentiate this show now, so it may as well go on to TV heaven or wherever shows end up.

I was hoping it would move to another network, where the show would get a decent time slot, and then (in my opinion) would slay all of the competition.

After that, we would get more than just a final rap up season stuck in a horrible time slot behind a show that in my opinion is just not worth watching.

The only bit of the bad wife that I watched, was when the annoying guy got killed.

I’m glad to read you all are getting together to try to save this show. For a teen show, it’s way better than Vampire Diaries right now. Keep working. I’ll go sign the petition! Actually, take heart. USAToday ran their annual which Show Should We Save story and The Mentalist won!!! So, there is always hope!
