You know that old line about “Please, don’t shoot the messenger”? Well, The CW has done just that. The network has cancelled The Messengers after one season. Only three episodes have aired thus far.
On The Messengers TV show, a mysterious object plummets to Earth and explodes in a blinding flash. It sends out a shock wave that instantly connects five strangers. They receive extraordinary gifts, from inexplicable strength to the ability to heal others. The cast includes Shantel VanSanten, Jon Fletcher, Sofia Black-D’Elia, J. D. Pardo, Joel Courtney, Anna Diop, and Diogo Morgado.
The move to cancel the series doesn’t come as much of a surprise. The Messengers has performed quite poorly so far, even for a Friday night show. Last week’s installment hit a new low with just 650,000 viewers and a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
For now, it looks like the series will stay on the air to finish out its run of 13 total episodes.
What do you think? Do you like The Messengers? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Great show. Didn’t see any advertisements for it. Just came across it. Very disappointed to know it hasn’t been given a chance. I mean cancelled after airing only three shows is pathetic. Let show run a good full season before canceling. FYI when people hear that something is cancelled before it has even started they most likely won’t waste time watching it knowing that.

Sooo sorry, I did not see it as spamming but as campaigning for people to rescue the show.. I will remember next time 🙂
No problem. Thanks and good luck. 🙂
I discovered this show in June and loved it. I had never seen any ads for it and stumbled across it accidentally.
It was very good. Would have loved to see more. 🙁
No advertising. No success. It has a great story and thought provoking. And if the network didn’t have supernatural. I think it would get more exposure.sad to see it go. It is time for something new on Wednesday.
I love the messengers. It probably should have had more advertising. Get show!
Yet again, American TV companies start a new series and then cancel it mid season because of demographics! It amazes me how anything gets off the ground in America when everything keeps getting cancelled all the time! equally frustrating, we in the UK start to watch these series on sky TV to then later find out that the show has been cancelled and just when you are starting to enjoy it, you find out that you can no longer see any more of it. The same happened with Flash Forward, Kyle XY, The Tomorrow People and many others – when… Read more »
This Series has gotten better. Please change the night & give it more exposure. You left us hanging & there is more story’s to be told. Renew.
I agree with all of these comments. There seems to be the same theme running through everyone’s comment. The show was marketed poorly to make sure it failed.
I love shows like this. Whomever did marketing for this series failed miserably. I never even heard of the show until today June 2, 2015
I just found out about this show last night and today watch the entire season.I guess that pretty much saids it all.I wish they bring it back on any giving night..
Why bother even producing and airing the show just to shove it on a crappy night and rip it right off as soon as pple actually start hearing about it and getting into it? This is a great series and at the very least deserves a chance. I didn’t hear anything about the messengers until it was on the second episode and as soon as I was like “Damn this is something interesting and different, can’t wait to see wat comes next” I found out it was canceled. I was and am SHOCKED. The CW needs to get it together… Read more »
Hear hear, I totally agree!! Star Crossed was great, then all of a sudden we hear it’s been pulled – The CW is shocking in the way it markets its products! Fire the top heavy management and use the money to invest in decent TV series, actors and marketing staff!!
no dont do it it was an amazing show
This show is amazing !!!!!! I really like watching it, the show grabbed my attention on the TV trailer I just had to watch it.
CW execs: ” hmmmm- something wildly entertaining, fresh and different from anything on the air. something that, if we market it just right, could really fit in with our ‘brand’ of heroes, sc-fi, horror lineup. ummmm. Let’s dump it on Friday night with no fanfare.” Way to go CW. You really blew a big opportunity. Hey! Any network, cable or internet peeps out there with some sense, pick up this show, stat!
And what I’d noticed about this show is they didn’t “hype” it at all. The hype annoys me anyway, but it seems the shows that have survived enough that at least they don’t ax it after the first three episodes The CW tacks on “New Hit Series” in on the ads.
It’s sad, because while the show isn’t *spectacular*, it is interesting and I do like it.
I will miss it.
I like this show…
I watched every episode (7 so far) because I DVR’d them. Last two weeks they preempted the show by showing MLB games in the time slot and playing the episodes later at 1 am. It’s as if they are making it hard to watch it. There are many people who have cable boxes and keep up on shows with competing time slots. Case in point is all the shows I record Sunday nights when so many shows I like are on at the same time. Don’t they factor in this fact of television watching now? Sometimes I have recorded an… Read more »
