Scrubs: ABC TV Show Cancelled, No Season 10

ScrubsAfter seasons of poor ratings and several cast members moving on, ABC has finally put the Scrubs TV show to rest.

Scrubs follows hospital life as seen through the eyes of Dr. J.D. Dorian (Zach Braff). He left Sacred Heart last season but returns occasionally to help teach a new crop of med students. Others in the cast include Donald Faison, John C. McGinley, Ken Jenkins, Sarah Chalke, Eliza Coupe, Kerry Bishe, Michael Mosley, and Dave Franco.

Last May, despite poor ratings, ABC decided to try to squeeze one more year out of the veteran sitcom. The reason? ABC also produces Scrubs and stood to make big money on additional episodes in syndication.

The network kicked off season nine late last year and registered a low 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demo and only 4.5 million viewers. The numbers dropped even further and ABC decided to burn off most of the remaining episodes in January.

In March, ABC aired the final episode of the season. The network’s website promoted it as the “series finale.” We contacted a representative for ABC who told us that it was a mistake but nobody was in any rush to change it.

Now, it appears that ABC has finally cancelled Scrubs after nine seasons on the air. With more than 180 episodes, the sitcom won’t be coming back.

What do you think? Should Scrubs have returned after last season’s Braff send off? Did you like the “med school” setting and characters?

I honestly believe that because they basically made season 8 the last season and then adding just one more season kind of ruins the tv show. by adding the 9th season, it leads you on because it brings you out of the disappointment of the show ending, just so it could end again at the end of season 9. i think that if theyre going to make the ending of season 8 that meaningful to viewers, they might as well add on at least 2 more seasons to keep the show going. plus, with it being on netflix and all, it is starting to recieve more viewers and higher ratings, and that should be enough for them to bring it back.

The least they could done was teen it into a spin-off about what happened in season 9th and just make a few seasons with it or something.

Honestly I feel the show died a bit after season 8. Season 9 seems to have ended off in a terrible way. I think if they had just kept it where it was at the end of season 8, it would have been much better, Season 9 was….I guess it was okay, I feel like it is no longer complete. The end of season 8 made it feel complete with the slideshow and all that. Hopefully they will one day make 1 or 2 more seasons to “complete” the series once and for all.

after J.D stopped being on the show in season 9 it got really boring. i preferred when J.D and carla was on every episode. J.D was my favourite character he always made me laugh every episode. i didnt like that it became a med school with classes i like the seasons before when it was just a hospital with interns learning. I also miss the janitor messing up with J.D.
