It’s been quite awhile since ABC has had a game show that’s a hit in the ratings. Could 500 Questions become a phenomenon like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? was 15 years ago? Will this new series be renewed for a second season or cancelled instead? That’s the real question but we’ll have to wait for the answer.
Hosted by Richard Quest, 500 Questions lets some certified geniuses try to correctly answer 500 very difficult general knowledge questions — without getting three incorrect in a row.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. I imagine Mark Burnett could have been partial to a British host since he’s British, but I would be happier if he let Richard Quest host the show in Britain, and selected an American-born, English speaker for the U.S. version of the show. Do we not have enough out-of- work actors/performers capable of hosting this game show living somewhere in this vast country of ours? Without any direct personal knowledge about the entertainment industry, I’d still bet a day’s pay we do. Loved the show, hated the host and contestants. the show host had no personality – and why a Brit? Why not Brook Burns, who can read questions faster than anyone… have you ever seen the Chase? And what about putting the Chase on prime time TV???
The contestants were pampas! Some tried and true winners from jeopardy should have been invited. not just one person.
Oh one more thing… if that last guy that one 80k said Yeah! one more time, I was going to throw the remote at the TV… but I don’t know what good that would have done, so I didn’t.
Oh, please. I’m sure you have no verbal tics of your own, and I’m sure you’d be the picture of grace under pressure. Judge much?

While I truly enjoy the Jeopardy-like idea of the show, the host drives me insane as I suspect he also does the contestants. He repeats himself CONSTANTLY…taking more and more time to say the exact same thing. It is very annoying and hurts the show in my opinion. It should be more about the players and less about the host.. I have chosen to watch something else a couple of nights because of this. I would Never miss Jeopardy. If you change the host, you have me hooked.
My husband and I were glued to the TV…loved it! Please bring back next episode soon! I only have one suggestion that the correct answer be shown on screen or repeated as it was hard to hear the correct answer sometimes. The show is fun and makes you think, although I cannot imagine anyone, no matter how genius they are, reaching a goal of 500 questions. Show us it can be done and bring back 500 questions…we want to see more!
Definitely should be renewed, what a tease putting it onfo a week, and then nothing !
