Viewership for the fourth season of Louie was down by about 20% when compared to season three. FX renewed the series anyway but there are just eight episodes this time around. Do the numbers matter or is the cable channel just happy to have the series on its schedule? Will Louie be cancelled or renewed for season six? We’ll have to wait and see.
Louie is the creation of its star, comedian Louis C.K., and is loosely based on the events of his life as a stand-up comic and the divorced father of two girls.

Lucky Louie and the show (just) Louie suck as entertainment. Louie started out good with the first season but the quality steady dropped and by now, it’s fifth season, Louie CK has run out of ideas and is repeating the same material over and over in different locations with different actors. It deserves to be cancelled. It’s over. I love his stand up, but it needs to be said…it’s not funny anymore.
I feel like Louie is one of a very small group of shows on TV that refuses to pander or ‘sell out’ to maintain the attention of slack-jawed yokels in houses where TV is king. Houses where it’s all that keeps people going. I find myself depressed more often than not, but the best moment of my week is when I realize there’s a new Louie episode that night. Last season wasn’t as funny. The man himself admits that much and promises to brimg it this season. The first episode did exactly that. Louie Is back, and deserves our attention.
