NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
I think NBC is making a mistake, the show is lot better than Slap.
Atleast put a closer to the stores, disappointmented with the network and will not trust their other shows.
Going forward will watch CBS
Bye bye NBC
Networks don’t even give shows enough time!!!! Seriously! Allegiance is one of BEST shows/ so good the hour feels like it’s over in 20 minutes – allegiance & scorpion are our absolute FAVORITE shows! Difference? Network advertises Scorpion NON FRIKN STOP for WEEKS leading up to it actually starting! We just happened upon Allegiance on its first night – had never heard of it (not PROMOTED???) but we saw it was the pilot “new” episode – so we watched! It is more intense than scorpion which always has actual pleasant touching endings every episode – Allegiance ends and every single… Read more »
For heaven’s sake give the show a chance. It’s a good show.
Always said when a really good show it’s the axe. This was a very good show! But ratings are ratings. Maybe they can relocate it to USA or another network that will come along and do it justice.
Allegiance was one of the few excellent shows we’ve seen in many years. The Slap is just awful. Whose running the show down there? Four-year olds??
I agree… Big mistake.
I hope all Allegiance episodes are aired! This and The Blacklist is about all I watch. I am hooked on them-what is wrong with NBC–they used to make great shows like Life. I still miss that one! The Slap–really? crazy premise.
Great show; too bad it has been canceled. Please run the remaining shows.
I truly hope another network picks it up! Ugh!!!
LOVED THIS SHOW!!! It kept me at the edge of my seat! Shame. Hope they do give it closure before they pull the plug.
BIG mistake
I had it taped and just watched 3 in a row and I love it. I am so sad and wish I had not started it. I will though watch the next 2. Please put it back on.
Allegiance is a good show. Pls don’t cancel it. I hope USA Network gets the show if NBC does not wakebup
Allegiance was one of the best shows on TV. You all are nuts if you think “the slap” even competes! How can you leave us hanging like this? How disappointing!!
Agree!!
Its also my best show on TV, along with Madam Secretary.
I don’t miss it yet, because I was able to see episode 8 on my Comcast In Demand.
NBC screwed up, by taking show off.
Run all EP of Allegiance maybe some-others w/foresight will pick it up as for me so w/the others that are done w/NBC .
WTF but no big suprise NBC has no clue this was a great show check-out the Americans on FX .
