TV show description:
This sci-fi police drama takes place 35 years into the future, in the year 2048. It’s a world in which police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids.
Detective John Kennex (Karl Urban) is a cop who’s survived one of the most catastrophic attacks ever made against the police department. He wakes up after a 17-month coma. He can’t remember much — except that his partner was killed. He’s lost one of his legs and is now outfitted with a highly sophisticated synthetic appendage. He suffers from depression, mental atrophy, trauma-onset OCD, PTSD and the “psychological rejection of his synthetic body part.”
John returns to work at the encouragement of his longtime ally, Captain Sandra Maldonado (Lili Taylor). Every cop must now be paired with a robot and, despite his passionate aversion to androids, John is no exception.
He’s partnered with a battle-ready MX-43 model. He abruptly terminates this pairing after the robot discovers incriminating information about him. As a result, technician Rudy Lom (Mackenzie Crook) introduces John to Dorian (Michael Ealy), a discontinued android with unexpected emotional responses.
Although these responses were deemed flaws, it’s these “flaws” that John relates to Dorian most — John is part-machine and Dorian is part-human. John and Dorian’s understanding of each other not only complements them, it connects them.
As he adjusts to working with his new partner, John also must learn to get along with his new colleagues, like the sharp and insightful human intelligence analyst Detective Valerie Stahl (Minka Kelly) and Detective Richard Paul (Michael Irby), a distrustful man who doesn’t welcome John back with open arms.
Episode #13 – Straw Man
Kennex and Dorian revisit the past when a string of murders are similar to those committed by a serial killer who was put in jail by Kennex’s father. Dorian gets his first performance review after being reactivated.
First aired: March 3, 2014.
What do you think? Do you like the Almost Human TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for another season?
Keep Almost Human. It is one of the best on T.V. I never miss it.
Almost Human was one of the best shows to come along in a very long time. It focused on action without the constant digression of sex and romantic entanglements. It takes a lot of creativity to BREAK AWAY from the pack, very few writers here can rise to that level, which was shown by other shows that since have followed with same concept But unable to fully rise that high. Good job bring them back. looking forward to season 2 of Almost Human
Excellent writing and the interplay between characters is on the level of “Firefly.” I would hope that Fox will not make the same bonehead decision they made with “Firefly.”
Please keep the show going!!
I thought that this was the most promising new series of the season, and I am appalled that it may not be given a chance at a second season. Please let us see more. Urban and Ealy have a wonderful rapport – and it has been fun to watch their prickly relationship develop into a real partnership without losing their humorous banter.
Do not cancel a show that has such potential, and especially one that has the best science fiction element I’ve seen since the early series shows of Fringe.
The show has some real depth to it , and has great possibilities. The cast is cohesive and obviously work very well together. It would be a “crime” not to see it through! You have my vote. We really need a good SiFi right now… Really!

Glad “Almost. Human” NOT cancelled.
Outstanding sci-fi show! Must renew and must complete the John Laroquete
Please keep this show going! Both my husband and I love it, and we seldom agree about much. The story lines are interesting, the characters are great along with the acting!
Love the series please renew.
Love the series and the different characters who meld well together. I prefer this series much more than Intelligence. Don’t cancel Almost Human. I love it! The characters have a great sense of humor, usually missing from Sci-fi shows. Can’t wait til next season.
Almost Human is a breath of fresh air in the Sci-Fi realm! It’s funny, exciting, and has the potential to expand its scope in a lot of directions – especially in the dealings of the city dwellers with the denizens who live beyond the Wall.
We’re all waiting for the second season with bated breath, and hoping that Fox doesn’t leave us hanging (again) with a broken series and broken promise…
Please renew Almost Human!
I loved the show but I think someone really screwed up. The episode with John Larroquette left viewers hanging about The Wall and why it was there in the first place. Couple that with him as the founder of the DRN and MX series and you have the potential for a fascinating story line. Instead, there’s no reference to Larroquette or The Wall since that episode. Very frustrating.
please renew all episodes for the future – please!!!!!!!!!!!@!@!
