CBS is hoping for killer ratings with their new murder mystery series, American Gothic. It seems like it’s been conceived as a one season series but, if it’s successful enough, they’ll surely find a way to bring it back (ala Wayward Pines and Under the Dome) for season two. If it’s a flop, the show could be cancelled and pulled off the air. What will happen? Stay tuned.
The first season of American Gothic revolves around a well-to-do Boston family. The Hawthornes are reeling in the wake of the chilling discovery that someone in their midst may be a serial killer. The cast includes Virginia Madsen, Juliet Rylance, Justin Chatwin, Stephanie Leonidas, Gabriel Bateman, Megan Ketch, and Elliot Knight.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. I love this show and so do my three teenage daughter’s. We are all very picky about what we watch,we all love the twist and turns.
These boards are hilarious to me. Comments posted by people transparently associated with the production trying to generate buzz. Do you really think the powers that be pay attention to the “I love, do not cancel, best show ever, so well written, so well acted, blah blah” comments? They care about ratings, people, end of. And a .4 in the demo and under 2.5 million viewers won’t do it. Even for a summer series.
Yes actually! One of my shows was cancelled and we the fans made such an impact that they brought the show back for a series finale.
My sister & I love this show. We make notes & discuss writer goofs, like the SB killer would not have come to the Hawthorne’s house to kill one of them and bring the whole bag of bells w/ him.? (that’s how they supposedly got the bells)! We think it’s the Mother too. It’s about an hr in season or series finale, as I send this, so don’t know if it’s being renewed –probably not w low rating! We hope so.
It’s our favorite show.

Amazing writing, well rounded cast of characters. “American Gothic” uses red herrings and overlapping plot lines to weave a story that can certainly move past the ‘Silver Bells Killer.’ Captivating story; please renew for Season 2!

I can’t wait to see the next episode .I think it is one of the best tv program on tv at this time.It will be a shame to cancel .Give the consumer time to catch up with it .American Gothic will be huge!! The name threw me off for a while , it did not fit the script.Once i decided to watch one episode i became hooked .If i miss a episode i catch it on demand.

I love AG. Good cast and time slot. I am able to catch two of my favorite shows within the same night. I hope it returns for a second season.
