NBC is trying an interesting experiment with Aquarius by releasing most of the season’s episodes online before they air on television. Have they given up on the traditional ratings? Will it be renewed for a second season or will it be cancelled instead? Stay tuned.
Set in 1967 Los Angeles, Aquarius, revolves around the generational conflict between an experienced homicide detective (David Duchovny) and an idealistic undercover vice cop (Grey Damon). The rest of the cast includes Gethin Anthony, Emma Dumont, Claire Holt, and Chance Kelly.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
6/25 update: NBC has renewed Aquarius for a second season. Details here.
Final season averages: 0.53 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.79 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Aquarius TV series? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Absolutely renew it. It is a more compelling take on the 60s than the last two seasons of Mad Men, and weak Mad Men was still pretty good. Aquarius has a great cast, a great ironic noir figure at the center (Duchovny), a great visual look, weird, compelling local LA music (almost no famous, worn-out 60s cliches–maybe because the rights are $$?), and several excellent scripts. Its Gothic take on the 60s is bent and risky, but it often works. The guy who plays Manson over-relies on a crease in his brow for effects, and has a goofy Okie accent,… Read more »
The accent is basically the only thing he has close to right about Manson.
As for the series….I think it’s intended to be just a one shot series. Dechovny is either doing a X Files movie or another series. It seem to me they mentioned the series, but I didn’t look into it very well
I watched the entire series all 11 episodes; it was OK viewing…lets see if it gets a season 2…
Unless Whoopi or some OTHER IDIOT complains about the language’ treatment of blacks like her STUPID comments on the Looney Tunes reissues etc…don’t like ’em; DONT WATCH
X-Files is returning for a 6 ep series Jan 25 on or about; forget what Network; MIGHT be NETFLIX
Watched the entire first season on Hula (loved watching it that way! Continuity was amazing) but now caving more!!! BRING ON SEASON 2!
Great show. Better than most of the junk on TV now days. I hope ratings increase.
I like to see it renewd I love it
This show was fantastic. I couldn’t stop watching it. I surely hope it continues!!
I have loved this show and would love to see it renewed for a second season. I watched the entire season in one day on Hulu. This was a great idea to release a show digitally for those of us that stream only. Thank you.
Watched the whole series on demand. I thought it was very good. I hope they bring it back for
season 2. There are many loose ends. Acting was excellent. Hard to believe the actor playing Manson is British!
keep it please! love it, this is the type of show that needs to be on tv, thanks nbc.
I LOVE David D and even tho he is returning as Agent FOX Mulder in January this role suits him; the humor is well positioned. I am watching ON DEMAND due to time constraints
GOOD LUCK
I was pleasantly surprised with this show! I had forgotten how well David Duchovny can act. I do think they made Charles Manson “too pretty” in the show. He needs to be less pretty and more charismatic and crazy. He wasn’t a handsome man then or now, but by recent news accounts…he still gets the ladies. They all looked up to him as a prophet of some sort. He had a nice little cult going then. The show needs to portray that bat **** crazy side of him, not this handsome wannabe hippie singer they are going with. He was… Read more »
I love binging all episodes in a short period. The show so far is portraying Manson as he was in 66 and 67 a couple of years before the Sharon Tate murder. They mentioned him being 33. If the show continues I think he will get crazier lol
After watching the first two episodes……..I’m a bit divided on this one. On one hand its kind of interesting to revisit the 60’s, but on the other…..I don’t think they’ve made very wise choices. There’s been two versions of Helter Skelter and each managed to find actors that really did a good impression of Manson both through acting and appearance. This Charley Manson looks and acts exactly like what he really is…A well fed and educated actor who has no idea of what the communal lifestyle was like. Actually none of them look like the girls did. They’re too well… Read more »
This show is amazing! I like it so bet it will be cancelled.:'(
Will not watch anything that glorifies Charles Manson and will not invest in any new series until the end to see if it gets renewed. The networks really suck lately and all have cancelled many of my favorites and left on crap. I was around during that time and loved the 60s but hated Charles Manson and his followers.
“Glorifies Manson”………Really? I doubt there’s any intention to bring glory to Manson in this. If anyone will be glorified it’ll be the officers who brought him down. I read Helter Skelter maybe 40 years ago. There’s absolutely nothing to glorify in the story at all
It does not glorify him at all. It does show what gullible morons most human teenagers are.
It was interesting to watch last night as there was little else on TV. Today I feel, “I was there when it happened, I don’t need to see some writer’s version of it again.” It was the first big evil I experienced. I’d like to leave it there. It looked reasonably accurate to the styles of the time, but I never suspended my disbelief that these were current actors playing people from almost 50 years ago. By the end of the hour, I really didn’t care because I didn’t like any of the people I saw on screen, nor cared… Read more »
I’m reluctant to check it out because it’s on the Nothing But Cancels channel so if I like it then most likely it’ll be dumped. But I have it recorded so I’ll give it a try. After seeing the trailer though I thought this will have to be really compelling or the only people interested in it will be us old hippies and others who were around back then and remember those times. It’ll be a kick to see if they actually get the era right. Many of the people covering the movements of the 60’s really never quite understood… Read more »
