NBC is trying an interesting experiment with Aquarius by releasing most of the season’s episodes online before they air on television. Have they given up on the traditional ratings? Will it be renewed for a second season or will it be cancelled instead? Stay tuned.
Set in 1967 Los Angeles, Aquarius, revolves around the generational conflict between an experienced homicide detective (David Duchovny) and an idealistic undercover vice cop (Grey Damon). The rest of the cast includes Gethin Anthony, Emma Dumont, Claire Holt, and Chance Kelly.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
6/25 update: NBC has renewed Aquarius for a second season. Details here.
Final season averages: 0.53 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.79 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Aquarius TV series? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Love it
From reading most of the comments here, it seems as though those of us who binged watched the series enjoyed it more. But that seems to be the way to watch a serialized show. Waiting for one episode a week seems to dilute the effectiveness, mood, suspense, etc. of the show. I find the storyline and acting to be very good and I really like the visual effects.
I agree with you Shea. It takes several episodes to set up a new show and audiences just get lost & tired of waiting to see what is going to happen and don’t care enough to stick it out/week by week. However-when they DO take the time to stick it out, they can see that Aquarius builds very nicely and now we care about what is going to happen next. It’s difficult to care when they are just setting the show up. Netflix learned this and took advantage. The broadcast networks would be smart to mirror this form of airing… Read more »
I watched the first show and thought it was pretty boring. Slow moving, a lot of talking, not much action or suspense. I’ll pass on this show.
Steve-if you’d give it a chance, you’d see that it has a lot say, the era is done very well and once the personalities of the characters are learned; it makes it much more interesting to watch. You honestly can’t tell from ONE show whether it’s going to be good or not, if you could – the writers would be childish, trying to tell you everything in 44-48 minutes (time without the commercials).
I watched all 13 episodes over two sittings…it was addictive. Hoping for Season 2.
I finished it last night and I enjoyed it immensely. Obviously, from all the comments, there are many different feelings about it, just like there is with every TV show. I hope enough of those with diaries or Nielsen boxes liked it, because that’s the ONLY way we’ll get a season 2. I’m in the media buying business and trust me – that’s the only way. I have never commented on these sites before (this is a 1st for me); it’s enjoyable to see how VERSATILE WE CAN ALL BE. Thanks to all, whether you liked Aquarius or not, I… Read more »
Best depiction of the 1960’s and what an LSD trip looks like that I’ve ever seen; I surely hope it will continue! I DO believe it’s more of a 25-54 demo, however.
I’lived through those years..hippie-dom. vietnam protests. I hated those years it brought America down and its people with her. Freakazoid Charles Manson and others like him like The Zodiac Killer took a beautiful era and turned into a freak show. The world is full of violence and killings. Why does Hollywood cash in on such garbage? Most of the people on here are young and dont understand the impact this era brought to this Country. As a boy living in the 1950’s I could walk to school without a worry. I always looked forward to going off to school. Then… Read more »
I’m with you, Gary. It is the worst of trash television to dredge up this sad time and especially to do it so poorly.
This show is more about remembering the times, the cops. It’s history for those that die NOT live through it and it needs to be told. Aquarius is a fictional account based on true characters. Nobody really knows what happened before Manson was caught and people are interested to see how it “might have been” and why the girls swooned over him so much. They are actually trying to help people understand how something so horrible could have happened. If you look at it for what it’s purpose is, perhaps you’d see it differently.
Two episodes in and loving the show! We lost Sons of Anarchy and Justified this year so my husband and I have been looking for something edgy. Aquarius fits the bill. Personally I like the format. Watching a couple of episodes at a time is perfect for us. Keeps our interest up and allows us the flexibility to watch when we have time. For those who are offended because they feel it was a bad “era” I say should we ignore a part of our history because it isn’t all pretty? If that were the case then many great but… Read more »
I see a lot of “love it” on here. Well I don’t. I lived through those years as an observer. The acting, directing, production all great. I would be glued to this series except for one thing. You are using the real person Charles Manson as a character but fictionalizing him in a way that makes him look “cute” he was not. Giving him credit for crimes and blackmail stuff he did not do. You are glamorizing this osteopathic monster who has even said he does not belong out there with others. What are trying to do…..start a real life… Read more »
You really think the “acting. directing and production (values) are great?” You obviously do
not work in film/TV production.
Donald, I wanted to say something nice…so I said that. The truth is I wont watch it for the reasons stated, and I do believe David D deserves better. To compare…i Loved Break BAd, LOST, Desperate Housewives, True Detective, and the original CSI programs. This one…..NOT.
Why, Donald Young – may I politely ask – what do you do for a living, that you know film and TV production so well and think Aquarius to be so poorly done?
Unfortunately, the charisma that Manson shows is exactly how he brainwashed his followers to do all the heinous crimes that happened. I also remember when all of this took place, and at the time forensic science wasn’t like it is today to understand how criminally insane could look so charming.
loved it
Loved it! Can’t wait for more!!!
I love it! My favorite thing I’ve ever seen David do. Entire cast is great!!! Love the soundtrack. Please let me get to watch a season 2! Please!!!!!! 🙂
I love the show and hope it is renewed!

And suspenseful episodes. It has to go to season 2

My partner and I just binge watched this fascinating series and want more ASAP. Great acting….episodes seemed ex to go by so fast…don’t cancel. David &Joe
I think the show is really good and can’t wait to watch the next episode after I finish one. Looking forward to a Season 2 and others. I watch the cable version “ON-DEMAND”. Don’t know if it is different from the European or i-Tunes version but I do believe it is different from the NBC regular version. I want the real deal and all that comes with it! A lot went on in the 60’s and it was a revolution on many fronts. I want a true to life show of the times. Keep the show going………I know a guy… Read more »
It should be renewed. David is good at whatever he does and I know Aquarius will be awesome no matter what
