Blood and Water has been renewed for a second season, Variety reports. The Chinese-Canadian drama premiered on Canada’s OMNI Television network just last month.
Created by Dan Trotta and Al Kratina, the series is unique for its use of English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
The crime drama stars Steph Song as police detective Josephine Bradley, who is tasked with the investigation of a murdered real estate heir. Set in Vancouver, the series also explores the lives and families of the many Chinese immigrants in North America.
The eight-episode first season is still airing in Canada.
Steph Song, speaking to Variety:
I’m ecstatic to be involved in a series that showcases Asians in North America. But really this is story-telling at its best, regardless of ethnicities involved.”
