Robert and Michelle King found success with their last CBS series, The Good Wife. Now, they’re trying something different with BrainDead. How will it perform in the ratings? Cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
On BrainDead, Laurel Healy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has returned home to Washington, DC to work for her brother, Senator Luke Healy (Danny Pino) on Capitol Hill. She is caught in the midst of two huge problems: the government has stopped working due to budgetary disagreements, and mysterious bugs are eating the brains of a growing number of members of Congress and Hill staffers. The rest of the cast includes Aaron Tveit, Tony Shalhoub, Nikki M. James, Johnny Ray Gill, Charlie Semine, and Jan Maxwell.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
10/18 update: CBS has cancelled BrainDead after one season. Details here.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the BrainDead TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Got to renew! It’s about the only politics I can stand! Fine acting, very funny, even the opening song is worth it!
Renew! It’s hilarious!
Love this show. Please bring it back.
I really like this show. I feel it should be renewed.
The best political black comedy out there. Great chemistry between the actors and a very refreshing parody of the real life political reality show going on now. Please renew another season and more Gustav/Rochelle/Lauren scenes; their comedic timing is priceless. Not sure how long the ‘alien bug brain eating’ plot line can play out, but hopefully the showrunners have that worked out to keep this gem going for as long as the ‘Good Wife’ .
LOVE LOVE, this show, each episode leaves my jaw dropped…it parallels the political climate of today. Coincidentally …. I think NOT! Never have I seen a show so close to the truth. Thumbs down to CBS for not advertising the day,/ schedule change to Sunday p.m., otherwise, the ratings would be 70, as it should be. Our current Government is indeed BrainDead in more ways than we can imagine. Thank goodness for the Kings for doing just that…imagination.
I love this show! It’s campy, well written and just plain fun (especially in light of the truly ugly politics going on now). This show gives us a much needed humorous spin on Washington DC. Please, please, PLEASE renew!!!
I love Braindead. An absolute riot and so true of what’s going on in Washington. Please renew!!!
Absolutely worth renewing. One of the few shows demonstrating truly unique ideas and writing. Also, anyone who wants to understand the political system must watch it!
Excellent series! Please renew. Funny, twisty and smart. You might think it’s foolish, but we can’t wait for each new episode.
Please renew— or get another network or streaming to pick it up. Difficult because America doesn’t like real satire– or can’t understand it
Please renew. So sad that tonight is the last episode!
Then you should be pleased to hear there are thirteen episodes in total, not ten. So tonight was not the last episode. One next week and two the week following.
There are two more weeks. Don’t miss……..
Excellent series — smart, topical and funny — although I thought episodes 8 and 9 were not quite up to the previous installments. I hope it is renewed. I note that the ratings may be understated, unless they count viewers who watch commercial-free on Amazon, where episodes are posted a few days after they first air. We only watched the first episode on CBS, and since then have pounced on each one as soon as it started streaming.
Renew – Please PLease PLEase PLEAse PLEASe PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Definitely renew! Clever fun interesting I’m totally hooked !
