Are you a fan of The Catch? Season two of the TV series premiered on ABC last month, but what about a third season? How’s it doing in the ratings? Should ABC cancel or renew The Catch?
From executive producer Shonda Rhimes, the drama features a game of cat and mouse between private investigator, Alice Vaughan (Mireille Enos), and the man she loves, the elusive con artist, Benjamin Jones (Peter Krause). The cast also includes Jay Hayden, Jacky Ido, Rose Rollins, Sonya Walger, Elvy Yost, and John Simm.
After a handful of episodes, season two of The Catch is really struggling in the ratings. The show performed poorly last year and the numbers are way down this season. Season two is currently averaging a 0.73 in the 18-49 demo and 3.57 million viewers. For comparison, season one averaged a 0.97 rating in the 18-49 demo and 4.64 million viewers.
Before season two premiered, showrunner Allan Heinberg mentioned they retooled the show — making it more comedic and less procedural than season one. However, it doesn’t look as if these changes are helping the ratings.

It was already renewed one time too many. A season of CASTLE without Stana Katic would have been better and done better. This show is awful, the ratings are awful, and it was renewed to make Shonda happy. ABC needs to man up and say NO to Shonda. When a show does a 0.6 or 0.7 on a major network, it should be cancelled.
Castle would not have worked without the both of them, that was what the whole show was about. But ABC for no good reason fired her. If ABC can cancel Castle that had better ratings than Catch, they should have no business reason to renew it.
Put out the whole truth. CASTLE was in its 8th season, the 8th season was a disaster with the new show runner, and it still had better ratings than The Catch, which was in its first season. Yes, ABC shouldn’t have gotten rid of Stana and Tamala Jones. Shonda was involved in this decision, and she shouldn’t have been.
It is fun fare. I love the two leads & the other actors are very entertaining as well. The story lines are as improbable as every other show yet it seems to have me hooked on this Catch!
