No stranger to television, Katherine Heigl had a long tenure on ABC’s successful Grey’s Anatomy TV series. Her next show, State of Affairs, was cancelled after one season on NBC. Now, she’s back on the small screen with a CBS legal drama called Doubt. How will this series do in the ratings? Will Doubt be renewed for a second season or, will it be cancelled instead? Stay tuned.
The Doubt TV show stars Katherine Heigl as Sadie Ellis; Elliot Gould as Isaiah Roth; Laverne Cox as Cameron Wirth; Dreama Walker as Tiffany Simon; and Kobi Libii as Nick Brady. Sadie is a brilliant attorney who starts to fall for her charismatic client. Pediatric surgeon Billy Brennan (Steven Pasquale) was recently accused of murdering his girlfriend, 24 years ago. Sadie has to hide her growing feelings from everyone, including her close friend and colleague, Albert Cobb (Dulé Hill). Getting involved with her client could put Sadie’s career and happiness at risk — particularly if Billy is found guilty. She must work all the harder to prove reasonable doubt, even while she has some doubts of her own.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival.
2/25 update: CBS has pulled Doubt from the schedule after only two episodes. Details here.
8/13 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Did you like the Doubt TV show on CBS? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
5/17 update: It’s official. There will be no second season of Doubt. Details here.
Love the show. Both the acting and writing are superb. I can’t believe that it is cancelled. CBS please reconsider your decision .
SO agree!!!
We have enjoyed Doubt from the first episode. Really wish the network would reconsider and bring it back for a second season.
Give the show a chance. It has interesting characters and an edge to the dialogue. It’s disappointing that we can’t let a story grow and develop anymore because of numbers . The reality is that we are over saturated with to many series with the expectation that we have all the time in the world to watch everything. Then when you do invest your time … the show gets pulled and on to the next. I enjoyed the series and would at least appreciate the full season. We owe that much to all those that worked and lent their expertise… Read more »
This show is absolutely awesome!!
I cannot believe it has been cancelled!!
I think it’s one of the best shows this season!!
Please put it back on the air!!!
I cannot believe they canceled this after only 2 episodes! It has such promise! I loved the first two episodes, I’m so mad there are no more. I’m paying for CBS All Access in order to see The Good Fight – why doesn’t CBS use some of that money that people are paying for what’s basically CBS On Demand – and put it towards keeping this show! It’s ridiculous. 2 episodes but if enough of the 18-49 demograhic didn’t watch, that’s it, it’s done? What about the people WHO DO LIKE IT and DO WANT IT?
I am so pissed that you took doubt off air. I thought the show was great and had a lot of potential not to mention the fact that I do love Katherine Heigl. Cancel something like MacGyver can’t stand the show sorry. Come on CBS do something right bring back
I’m right there with ya on this one!!
I cannot believe it’s been taken off air.
What a disappointment….
Cynthis — I totally agree! MacGyver appeals to the 18-year old mentality. Put on a show that leaves you intellectually wondering abut legal issues, and makes one think … OMG, what am I thinking?! I guess on the viewing audience that exceeds the network limitations can handle that. I often wonder if they stopped the surveys, would the talent be better on network TV? Or would we be forced to watch ‘reality’ shows with concocted scripting – and no thought process (or acting talents) needed? Guess it’s time to renew my library card … the GOOD shows are few and… Read more »
You expect a show with much higher ratings to be cancelled instead of one that scores 0.2s? Lmao. And news flash, buttons, shows are SUPPOSED to cater to 18 year olds, that’s why the 18-49 ratings are the only thing that matters.
Dought is a great show & shame on CBS for cancelling it. I hope someone picks it up & soon because it’s one of the best new shows I’ve seen in a long time. Please bring it back.
Let them go to another network. CBS is not the only game in town. I enjoyed the show. A different slant on the workings in a law office.
Liked it. Run in summer.
I liked the show. Possibly run in Spring, Summer. Like to see it.
I actually enjoyed this show, they should just put it on saturdays after “Ransom” imo..
A 0.68 after 2 episodes and CANCELLED? It has higher ratings than TONS of cable shows.
It has promise
I doubt it.
I see KH is still working that reverse Midas magic…everything he touches turns to …and it ain’t gold
Love it
