TV show description:
This medical situation comedy is based on the experiences of creator and star Ken Jeong who practiced as a physician before becoming a comedian.
Doctor Ken (Jeong) is a brilliant physician, though he occasionally leaves his bedside manner at home. He has no problem telling an obese patient that he’s fat, right to his face. And when the patient claims that he barely eats, Ken quips ‘the only thing fatter than you, are your lies’.
Hospital Manager Pat (Dave Foley) is tired of the numerous complaints that have been made about Ken and is looking for any excuse to fire him. Luckily, Ken has receptionist Damona (Tisha Campbell-Martin) on his side.
Despite putting his foot in his mouth most of the time, Ken is committed to being a good physician as well as a good husband and father.
His long suffering wife is therapist Allison (Suzy Nakamura) and she has her work cut out her to keep things sane at home.
Teenagers Dave (Albert Tsai) and Molly (Krista Marie Yu) are growing up fast and are looking for some freedom in their lives. Ken’s answer is the opposite of freedom — duct tape.
Episode #44 — Ken’s Big Audition
After an awkward audition with Alison Brie (guest starring as herself), Hollywood producer/writer Dan Harmon (guest starring as himself) makes Ken’s life-long dream come true by casting him in a new comedy series that takes place at a community college. Meanwhile, Pat is ready to declare his love for Damona, but an unexpected visit from his ex-wife, Tiffany (guest star Nia Vardalos), throws him off course; and Allison is less prepared for Molly to leave for Stanford than she’s letting on.
First aired: March 31, 2017.
What do you think? Do you like the Dr. Ken TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Love the show! Can’t wait to see new episodes!!!
We watched this when it premiered after Last Man Standing, which we do NOT miss, and I found Dr. Ken to be quite entertaining…..I do like this show, and I think it should be brought back for Season 2
We love the show, some episodes are difficult to watch with kids, but no worse than some fem commercials. Keep it. Very funny.
NOT FUNNY. We still sort of watched it but after last night’s episode (4/8/16) we are really done with it! This one is going away soon.
I don’t like Dr Ken’s shows…
Love the show. Please renew. I watch it right away when it airs on Friday night. I still DVR it. Just in case. Lol. I do enjoy re-watching it.
Please Please Renew! I enjoy watching it after a long week. The people complaining about it should just find something else to watch not go out of your way to try and ruin it for those of us who have a sense of humor. For those who say it’s not family friendly, the humor or subjects are no worse than say modern family.
Renew
I love Dr Ken! Its absolutely Hilarious!! I have never laughed so much in so long! Please don’t cancel it. I do agree that its a little harsh for the general audience so late night is better for this show:)
I absolutely love Dr. Ken! I see from comments below that some people don’t think it’s family friendly, but I think it fits today’s family dynamics. The humor is current and hilarious. It’s the only Friday night show I enjoy watching. I hope they Do Not cancel “Dr. Ken”. In my option, Dr. Ken is better than “Fresh Off the Boast”, which is stern typed. I gave fresh off the boat a few chances, but still have a strong dislike for it even though the network renewed it for a 2nd season. Keep Dr. Ken!!
I think the show is beneath contempt – and certainly not funny in any way. WAYYY over the top in direction and acting (if you want to call it that). Tell ABC that I have a premise of a show – if this idiotic piece of manure can be green lighted, then so would mine.
Not for family’s! How is a show with this content on at 8:30!!!! Awful subject matter…,.
I love the Dr. Ken show. It is so entertaining. I record it and watch it over and over.
I thought it was kind of a fun show but no longer think it’s fit to watch I will not longer be watching this.
I totally agree with Liz–this is definitely not a family show. I changed the channel last night and will no longer watch this program!
