canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

Eastwick: Cancelled TV Show Returns to ABC (briefly)

by Trevor Kimball, June 17, 2010

EastwickThe bewitching ladies of Eastwick are coming back to the alphabet network but fans shouldn’t get their hopes up. The ABC TV show’s still cancelled.

Eastwick revolves around three women (Rebecca Romijn, Lindsay Price, and Jaime Ray Newman) who meet at a wishing fountain and become friends. Soon after, mysterious Darryl Van Horne (Paul Gross) moves to town and unleashes powers within them. The cast also includes Ashley Benson, Johann Urb, Jon Bernthal, Sara Rue, and Veronica Cartwright.

The series got off to a poor start in the ratings and the numbers got worse and worse. The network essentially decided to cancel the show by deciding not to order any episodes beyond the initial 13.

ABC aired 11 episodes of Eastwick between September and December 2009. They had originally planned to air all 13 but opted to cut the run short and move Ugly Betty into the timeslot instead.

As you may recall, episode 10 of Eastwick ended with several cliffhangers. For some reason, ABC then ran episode 12, the last one before the series was pulled. The cliffhangers weren’t even mentioned in episode 12 and this left most viewers very confused and upset.

We were able to track down the episodes and in February published extended synopses of the two missing episodes; “Red Bath and Beyond” and the series finale, “Pampered and Tampered.” Not as good as watching them on TV but better than nothing.

Now, six months after Eastwick left the network, ABC has decided to finally air episodes 11 and 13. They’ll air on Saturday July 10th, beginning at 9pm. Unfortunately, most people won’t remember what was going on and episode 12 won’t be rerun between them. What’s more, the series finale doesn’t wrap up the show’s storylines.

What do you think? Are you glad that the last two episodes of Eastwick are finally airing or is it just too late to care?

Why wait until July? You can stream the episodes anytime you want at: http://www.watchseries-online.com/?s=eastwick&search=
ABC really did not support this show; when they started moving it around their schedule, I had to find the above mentioned site in order to watch the episodes that I had missed. It’s a shame that another network did not pick it up. If something like HBO or Showtime were to pick it up, it could have become darker…like True Blood.

I will watch, because I really liked the show. Also, not much is usually on Saturday nights, so it will be a nice break to watch it. I wish they gave series time to develop a following.

I am surprised and happy that I will beable to see the fianl episodes….however, I was very hopeful that ABC might have listened to it’s viewers and would give this show another chance! If they looked at it from the standpoint of what is popular right now, they might have recognized that Eastwick would have given ABC an advantage for the new fall line-ups (ie: The gates ect.) Still hoping another, smarter network will pick this show up! The main characters were also fantastic in Lipstick Jungle (which was also cancelled) and could make some serious cash in the righr… Read more »

I thought it was an excellent film and wish for the show to continue, I know there was very little viewers but maybe a change in the network, on a more watched network maybe?

This just makes me mad at ABC all over again for ******** up the show. According to their own website, they plan to air episode #13 “Pampered and Tampered” and then episode #11 “Red Bath and Beyond”. Are they complete morons?

Fortunately for me, I haven’t watched episodes 10 or 12 yet, but I have them recorded. So I’ll record episodes 11 and 13, then watch 10, 11, 12, and 13 in order. I Love the show and think that we should cast some spells on the network to keep the show going, or put a hex on the folks killing the show.

I watched this series in th UK on Virgin Media’s Anytime service. It confused me as I ended up watching episode 12 before 11, because they were listed in the wrong order. I thought it was a fun series, its a shame that it has been cancelled, I was interested to see where it would go as the 13th episode raised as many questions as it answered

I loved this show and I’m tickled that we will get to see the last few episodes. Sadly this isn’t something new for ABC-they have a history of pulling the plug on series with merit. ABC leaves crap on tv and cancels quality/popular shows with no thought whatsoever.
Case in point- Boston Legal-one of the most brilliant/funny creations ever from the mind of genius David E Kelley, who had to sell his soul to the devil to be able to actually have a “final” episode on a 5 yr run!
So YAY for Eastwick!

I honestly hated the show but watched it because Matt Dallas (quite talented) was in it, and shortly thereafter because Darren Criss was in it. He was the daughter’s boyfriend…I looked him up immediately after the show and he hasn’t done too much, but I think that will change. The ladies were okay, but this newcomer is what kept me coming back. I hope he gets more parts in future. I think they should just leave the show alone.

I have seen only one episode, the pilot to be exact, and i liked it and cant wait to see the next one!! I am not pleased that they decided to cancel the show because i thought the story lines in the first episode were really good and it kept me on the edge of my seat while i was watching it. Airing the the last three episodes out of order is another mistake. For the people out there that like the show like i do are probably thinking the same thing i am.

What a way to kick a show when it’s down. I’ll watch because I love the cast and what it could have been, but jeesh!
