Eleventh Hour: CBS Cancels Paranormal TV Show, No Season Two

by Trevor Kimball, May 19, 2009

Eleventh HourTime has run out for CBS’ science-based drama. Based on a British series of the same name, the network has cancelled Eleventh Hour after 18 episodes.

Eleventh Hour revolves around a team of scientists and FBI agents who work to solve strange crimes that involve science and possible paranormal activity. The drama stars Rufus Sewell, Marley Shelton, and Omar B. Miller.

Debuting on October 9, 2008, the show started out with an audience of 11.37 million viewers and a 3.2/9 rating/share of the 18-49 demographic. The season ended up averaging about 12 million. While that looks fine on its own, the series consistently lost a large percentage of its CSI lead-in.

The show’s been “on the bubble” for awhile and now, the network has decided to cancel it. All of the show’s episodes have aired and there’s been no word on a DVD release.

The only show I watch on CBS cancelled. YAY!!

USA is cancelling its bread and butter, Monk. Now, CBS is giving 11th Hour the ax. I don’t know who these brainiacs are in the programming dept, but maybe they shouldn’t quit their “day jobs.” Because they plain suck at it!!

I hate to ruin your fun of using CBS as an acronym, but “stupider” is actually not a word… =/

I cannot believe another one bites the dust. I don’t even like CSI anymore, but I love this show! So done with these networks not renewing shows that are intellgent and so different from anything else on TV. Bring it back please!

Yay! Maybe now that they aren’t spending huge money on big stars and great drama they can pick up shows like Mobile Home Disaster or My Big Redneck Wedding!

CBS = Couldn’t Be Stupider

This was an intelligent, well acted, popular and exciting show. What other reason did CBS need? One less reason to watch CBS. Only 12 million? Seriously? Lemme guess, you’ve got dogs throwing darts at a board when everybody else is using monkeys? Ack! Dogs don’t have thumbs!

Another great show cancelled! All these crappy reality shows are making Americans retarded. This was an intelligent show, very well written with thought provoking episodes, great direction and superb acting from the lead players. I am utterly disgusted at CBS for canceling Eleventh Hour. Maybe I’ll go back to reading books.

CBS made a terrible decision. With those ratings and those demos, what else did they want?

But please, all those true EH fans, go here:
If CBS doesn’t want it, another network will help us pick it up. This is serious.

Once again, a new show that I totally loved has been canceled. I am sick to death of tuning in to shows only to have them canceled as soon as I really get into them. I am OVER watching network tv, and reality tv sucks too. How many people do they need to tune it to consider a show a “hit”?! If 12 million people tune in every week, shouldn’t that be enough? I think I will stop my cable television and start watching the shows on the internet. Who wants to pay for tv you can get online, especially… Read more »

I am sorry that CBS made this decision. The show deserved a second season and CBS simply could not get over their demo fetish. That is a shame.

That was one of the best shows on CBS!! I don’t know what they are thinking – hopefully they will release Season One on dvd, at least.

Big mistake. I watched every week. What are they going to replace it with, more reality tv crap?

I am getting sick and tired of networks cancelling good shows. Do they want people to stop watching altogether? I know a lot of networks that would love to have 12 million watching their network. This is ludicrous.
