Limitless: Why There’s No Second Season of the CBS Series

by Jessica Pena, August 10, 2016

Limitless TV show on CBS (canceled or renewed?

Why did CBS cancel Limitless? At this summer’s TCA press tour, network chief Glenn Geller explained why there will be no second season of the series, TVInsider reports.

Based on the 2011 film, the drama followed Brian Finch (Jake McDorman), who is given a special drug that unlocks 100% of his brain. The cast also included Jennifer Carpenter, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Hill Harper, and Colin Salmon.

During the panel, Geller said CBS cancelled Limitless because he didn’t “think it connected with the viewers”:

Ultimately we had to look at the show; it was a very good show, but I don’t think it connected with the viewers as well as other shows had. Yeah, we could have brought it back. But we also have to put on new shows and give other things a shot. It could have come back, but we have to do better; we want to improve time periods. That’s why we put on new shows.”

What do you think? Did you watch Limitless? Do you think the show should’ve been renewed?

Cbs whoever decided to pull this show isn’t in touch with your base. I hope Netflix grabs it and shuts your crap show of a network down. Next time poll real people.

You have got to be kidding! My husband just hooked me on it and now it’s over? Why do all the smart shows get cancelled?

I didn’t hear about before Netflix but so far I love the show, it has a lot of room to get better and better. I think they threw in the towel to quick maybe advertisement was the issue because I had heard about it but never knew when it was to actually air.

Finding this article breaks my heart, im watching the series on Netflix as I type this… I’m not a “tv” person, but this show is amazing and I am hooked… I loved the movie, and instantly fell in love with this show… dumb move CBS, you almost had a regular viewer…

Bring back Limitless. The execs at CBS are not in touch with the viewers is more of a true statement.

The fact that CBS doesn’t feel that “LIMITLESS” has the potential for a 2nd season is beyond my realm of thought, nor worth my precious time. I don’t watch CBS, however I may consider watching CBS if they had more shows like this. UNLOCKING 100% of the human brain is not only possible, it’s going to happen & who wouldn’t be interested in watching a “series” about such a HUGE scientific breakthrough that could actually happen. I think that there’s potential that a show like this with endless possibilities could enspire the scientists of the world to dig deeper and… Read more »

My wife & I just watched limitless Season one on Netflix. We both loved the show and are really bumed to find out it was canceled by CBS. The show was a breath of fresh air for a series like this. Combining a mystery/drama with a healthy amount of tongue-in-cheek comedy was brilliant. The writers & producers were very creative from week to week. They kept it interesting & fun to watch.

I just finished the first season in Netflix with my husband. I love it so does he. I am starting to feel all the good shows get cancelled. You should really bring it back.

I thought it was a real good show. Much better than most of the junk on network tv. We will probably get some unrealistic reality show to replace it.. I don’t expect much from these people anymore.

How is putting on other shows that suck suppose to be better for your ratings than a show that is great? Limitless was a show that had everything a viewer wants in a show, it appeals to more than just one audience. You and your team of advisors are fools!

You’ve got to be joking me! This show is so good. Hopefully Netflix will pick this show up. CBS, I’m gonna need you to get and keep it together. I can actually watch this show with my entire family. Do you really want to be responsible for ruining that?

Glen Geller may need to be fired if there are a bunch of shows on CBS that bomb. Nina Tassler, Where are you?

This show rocks. Sad to see it won’t be back. I just binge watched this on Netflix. 22 episodes in 2 days and I was looking for season 2 and when it will start. Sad to see it go.
