CBS hasn’t announced that Medium has been cancelled but, while attending an event last weekend, Patricia Arquette said that the show will indeed be ending this season.
Like her character, series star Arquette can indeed see the future. Now, Medium creator Glenn Gordon Caron has confirmed that the drama is finished. Of the last episode, Caron wrote, “Allison Dubois will dream her last dream on Medium Friday, January 21st. In what we believe will be a series defining episode, Allison and her family will stare destiny in the eye. And destiny will not blink.”
The ratings for Medium have taken a real hit this season. Despite frequently winning its timeslot, the drama has averaged a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.41 million viewers. CBS reduced the number of episodes to just 13 as a result.
What do you think? How would you like to see Medium end? Should some of the characters die or should Allison lose her abilities? How about Joe and Allison finally getting a good night’s sleep?

This is my favorite show on TV. It is number one in writting of the show content and acting. I hope someone picks them up. There is not much worth warching on TV now.
I love this show. It is number one, great writers and actors. Most of the shows on TV are garbage. I hope someone picks them up!
I am devasted like the others, that you have cancelled this fantastic show, that I have watched from the beginning. Your 7:00 time slot was very inappropriate for it and Ghost Whisperer too. And Friday Night? – that’s a death sentence for most adult programming. We’ re just settling in for the weekend. I will give CBS this, you ended the series dramatically, not just pulling the plug like other channels. I don’t remember crying that much during a TV show in years. If you do reverse this decision, Allison could have had a Bobby Ewing dream. Please renew the… Read more »
I enjoyed watching Allison and her family. There is something calm about her and how she handles her family and day to day activites. I am very sad that the show ended. I enjoyed it very much. I think the show could have changes the focus from Allison to for example “Bridgett” . She was the most fun in the family.
The last episode was very touchy/emotional. I will definately miss the beatiful faces of all the characters in the show.

Like many of you I didn’t realize when I watched last night’s show that I was watching the ‘series finale’. When it dawned on me that this was what I had watched I felt really sad. Medium has been a show I looked forward to every week. It’s a shame that reality TV and sitcom drivel endure and shows like this do not. Best of luck to its creator, its writers, its cast and all who brought the show into our living rooms week after week for seven years. Thank you.
We are so sad that Medium was cancelled; it was one of our favorite shows! We don’t think it was time to say goodbye !!
So upset that this show go off the air. It was one of the best shows on tv, my husband I actually looked forward to seeing it every week!!! Please bring it back!!!
I can not believe you have cancelled Medium. It is one of my favorite shows. I look forward each week to watching it. Although the final show was exquistitly done, I am very disappointed. I like all the people in the show and they all had such great chemistry together. I just can’t understand why we keep getting stuck with all these stupid shows and the good ones are taken off the air. You have really blown it this time, CBS.
im pissed they are taking off medium…first ghost whisper now medium…i mine as well get another hobby.. this was one of my top favorite 3 shows. im really uspset. thanks alot! it was a good ending but dang im mad it wont be on again.
I was a viewer the entire seven seasons, and I will truly be sad to not see “Medium” every week. Congratulations to the writers, producers, and actors for enlightening and entertaining us all of these years. I really admired that the final episode gave me closure with this wonderful cast. In previous years, there have been several TV series that just “left you hanging” when the series was terminated. (“Crossing Jordan” and “Cold Case” come to mind ). I applaud Glenn Gordon Caron, Patricia Arquette, and all of the other professionals associated with this show. This show ended on a… Read more »
I watched the final show last night and freaked out at the end!!!! I didn’t even know this series was ending!!! I cried my eyes out! There goes another Great show!!! I have watched this show since the begining and got my family watching it, they fill in love with it. We just love Joe, how suportive he is of Alison. Most guys would be so sick of their wifes waking up every night screaming, talking to people who are not there because he could not see them, but he was so kind to her every time. I thought What… Read more »
I can truly cry right now, watching the last episode overseas I was so confused that they killed Joe, then I said no did they cancell the show, and low and behold I read that they did.. I am so hit right now first Ghost whispers now medium, why are all the great shows going and we are being left with all these pre teen meldodramas. What the Heck. I’m sick of investing myself and money into these awesome shows that just get cancelled.
So sorry to see the show cancelled. CBS is making a lot of changes but in my opinion not good ones. Why not cancel 20/20 ? I no longer watch the morning show. Before the change I turned the CBS morning show on to watch Harry Smith now it’s NBC. When ratings are calulated do they include internet viewing and DVR? I didn’t like the ending. I would have preferred the family to stay in tact. Maybe ABC or FOX could have picked up the series. Hey Friday night is go out to eat night so how many viewers did… Read more »
I was so shocked that the series was cancelled! I would always tease my 10 year daughter that this would be the last show when the plot would take one of those twists that seemed like the show was ending and we won’t be seeing another! I did that same teasing during the last episode unbeknownst to be that it was indeed the last show! I remember having felt like being punched in the stomach when it finally dawned on me that this was actually the last show! I usually DVR and watch it when I treadmill in the mornings,… Read more »
Medium was one of the better shows on TV. It justs shows how much people are entertained by silly sitcoms and distasteful reality shows. Why not end the show with Joe getting a job that would have taken his family to another state. The writers seem to have just wanted to hurry and get rid of Medium. The show comes on with the children grown. That’s the way the soap operas are written.
Medium will me missed……
