TNT recently wrapped the first season of Monday Mornings, their latest medical drama. Should it return for a second season or be cancelled instead?
Monday Mornings follows the lives of the talented yet flawed doctors at the Chelsea General Hospital in Portland, Oregon. The title refers to the tough peer review meetings that are run by the hospital’s sarcastic Chief of Staff. The cast includes Ving Rhames, Jamie Bamber, Jennifer Finnigan, Bill Irwin, Keong Sim, Sarayu Rao, Emily Swallow, and Alfred Molina.
The show started off the season with just 1.36 million viewers and a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That was less than half of what the Dallas premiere lead-in drew with 2.98 million and a 0.8 demo rating.
The numbers for Monday Mornings didn’t get much better as the weeks wore on. The season ended up averaging just 1.39 million viewers and a 0.3 in the demo.
Given these numbers, it seems highly unlikely that Monday Mornings will be back for a second season.
But what do you think? Would you like to see the show return for a second season or do you think it should be cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t catch on with a bigger audience? Was the title a problem? What would you have called it?
Such a great show.don’t let it go.love it, great cast & so real looking.need keep.
I absolutely love this show and think the network would be crazy to let it go after just one season. The cast is wonderful and they work well together. The story line is great and well written. i love the interactions between the patients and the staff as well as the staff with each other. quite a unique show and characters. I look forward to this show every week. I am so tired of reality tv and when they took Harry’s Law off the air, one of the best shows ever, I couldn’t believe it, yet now another awesome show… Read more »
Love it! Keep it on the air!
I’m SO disappointed!!! This was one of the BRIGHT SPOTS on the screen… I’ve been a Medical Assistant for MANY years, and at least this show was more unpredictable and semi-believable than others of this ilk… PLEASE RENEW for SECOND SEASON!!!
Please, please don’t cancel the series. It is the most refreshing medical series to be televised in a long, long time. Not to mention informative medical information and bedside manner.
My whole family loved watching Monday Mornings. We thought it was the best medical show er have ever seen WE all want to see another season.
Please renew Monday Mornings. It is one of the best shows on right now. I have told friends about the show because they had not heard of it. Maybe more advertisement is needed. Everything about this show is great. Keep it!! Please!!!
I have watched many medical shows and this is one of my favorites. The characters are interesting and engaging. I am a huge fan and hope I have another season to look forward to.
Love this show!!! Please bring it back…….
Think this is one of the most thoughtful and wonderful shows that is aired on TV ever–keep it going!!! It would be awful not to continue it—it will get a larger audiene and by word of mouth it will ignite! It should not be lost–the episodes are gripping, current, timely and both thoughtful and thought provoking TV— Kudos to the writers!!!
Love this show!!!! I feel it wasn’t advertised enough. This show is 100 times better than Dallas, yet Dallas gets all of the hype. This show is definitely worth of a 2nd season. Keeping my fingers crossed that it is renewed, and that it gets more promotional spots on TNT.
Only Doctor show I have liked. Well acted, intelligent and well written, but the Title is a problem.
I typically don’t watch medical shows. But, this one is different…..it is great. Riveting with interesting characters.
Please renew. It was interesting and a great character study!
I think this is one of the best medical dramas on television! I read the reviews at tvguide.com before it came out and it got mostly thumbs up, so I decided to give it a try. Boy, was I not disappointed! The show is so well-written and acted. I love all the characters, especially Alfred Molina’s character. I really hope they renew this show for another season. Keeping my fingers crossed.
