TV show description:
This dramatic series is a saga of faith, ambition and betrayal and is based on the Biblical Books of Samuel. It’s told through the eyes of the battle-weary King Saul, the resentful prophet Samuel, and the resourceful young shepherd David. The three are on a collision course with destiny and the story that unfolds is still being told today.
A thousand years before Christ, the first king of the Israelites, Saul (Ray Winstone), struggles to unify the dozen Israelite tribes and defend his fledgling nation against savage enemy attacks.
He is married to Queen Ahinoam (Simone Kessell) and their children are Jonathan (Haaz Sleiman), Merav (Jeanine Mason), Ishbaal (James Floyd), and Michal (Maisie Richardson-Sellers).
The prophet Samuel (Mohammad Bakriz) relays a message from God to King Saul that he must destroy one of Israel’s ancient enemies. But, when Saul defies that message, Samuel prophesies that the Lord will tear the kingdom of Israel from him and choose another in his place.
In time, Saul comes to realize that his greatest threat doesn’t come from his enemies, but from the shepherd named David (Olly Rix).

Very good biblical story.
i just watched the first 9 episodes on line. hell, i didn’t even know about this series and its been a year and a half now. the tenth episode is still not aired or posted. as for the show, it was gripping, a unique take on bible stories with the flare and fire we see on shows like the vikings. i can tell you ABC really dropped the ball here. it wasn’t the show but obvious poor scheduling and even worse marketing. this would have been big if the story was allowed to bloom. i hope a smart channel like… Read more »
What a shame – I really enjoyed this series and the fact that I cannot watch episode 10 and those episodes already filmed for season 2 is disappointing. Can it not be streamed? I am surprised that the network were bullied into pulling it – doesn’t sex happen as a fact of life? admittedly it is unusual to see such graphic content in a biblical format – but I am sure we adults can handle it!
I really enjoyed the show. I didn’t get to watch it on its airing night but paid to watch it via Amazon Prime. It was engaging and I wanted to see more. How disappointed I was to find out it was canceled. Silly! Why do networks always cancel promising relevant shows? I think it’s the kind of show that needs to be viewed especially in the troubling times in which we live. It was nice to hear the name Elohim our God being spoken. My MoM and I REALLY Enjoyed “OF KINGS AND PROPHETS”. My MoM went through some hard times while she was with my father, and it left her in a state of mind that she didn’t want to quit opening up and talk anymore. She’s now taken mental medication, but when I shared with her “Of Kings And Prophets”, she was talking like I was a little girl telling me about the Bible and what happened in that time.
