NBC decided to hold One Big Happy until late in the TV season. That’s typically a sign that the network has very little confidence in a series. How has this sitcom been doing? Is it a surprise ratings success? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the One Big Happy sitcom, a pair of childhood best friends — he’s straight (Nick Zano) and she’s a lesbian (Elisha Cuthbert) — are still single as adults and decide to have a baby together. But then, he meets and marries the love of his life (Kelly Brook) and a different kind of family is born. The rest of the cast includes Rebecca Corry, Chris Williams, and Brandon Mychal Smith.
Debuting on March 17th, following The Voice and Undateable, One Big Happy attracted a 1.65 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.471 million viewers. It certainly wasn’t an impressive debut. The following week, the series dropped 30% in the numbers to a dismal 1.16 rating with 3.794 million.
The digits fell even lower in subsequent weeks and last night’s finale hit a new low with a 0.8 rating and just 3.08 million viewers. The season ended up averaging a 1.17 in the demo with 2.92 million.
Based on the ratings, there seems to be no reason for the network to bring this comedy back for another season. The numbers are terrible and have gotten worse almost every week. I suspect we’ve seen the last of this show.

This show is great. I Think its terrible so many actual horrible shows last so long and these shows get cut. There are many i could mention like happy endings, out of practice which were always on late and hardly advertised so they never had a chance i just happened to stumble on those ones one day and nobody i know has heard of those and many more but all these other silly shows get heaps of seasons. I think that it takes more than 6 episodes to decide to cancel a show!!! The network didn’t give viewers time to get involved in the show. There has been many instances where new shows have been cancelled too soon and then they have been successful in syndication. At least give them a full season before pulling the plug. For example I didn’t get into Once Upon a Time or Desperate Housewives until like the 2nd or 3rd seasons. I loved the show.. I really hope they bring it back. I look forward to it every Tuesday evening. It’s absolutely hilarious, Plus my husband loves the big boobs. on one of the characters in the show LOL We watch it together and laugh. PLEASE DON’T CANCEL A GREAT SHOW!!

Keep it!! I never watch TV….have literally cancelled cable and gone months without missing it. One Big Happy comes out and now I’m on my computer every week waiting to watch it on NBC’s website. 100% keeper
Keep the show! Market it better, and give it more time to catch on. I need to see what happens next. Build it and bring on the baby. Find her a good partner, and show the family as a whole. Two couples raising the child.
