What’s This TV Show About?
Streaming on the Amazon Prime Video paid subscription platform, Patriot stars Michael Dorman, Michael Chernus, Terry O’Quinn, Kathleen Munroe, Kurtwood Smith, Aliette Opheim, Chris Conrad, Julian Richings, Gil Bellows, and Marcus Toji. This political thriller follows intelligence officer John Tavner (Dorman). With only his unsafe “non-official cover” as a mid-level employee at an industrial piping firm, Tavner is on assignment to stop Iran from going nuclear. Lingering PTSD, governmental ineptitude, and meeting the requirements of his cover, cause spiraling blunders which threaten his mission. His penchant for smoking pot and writing all too confessional folks songs don’t help matters. And then there’s the trail of dead and maimed bodies he leaves in his wake.
Telly’s Take
Unless Amazon releases streaming “ratings”, it’s difficult to measure the success or failure of streaming TV shows like Patriot. Critical acclaim and buzz is also important to services that rely on keeping viewers subscribed. So far, there’s mixed interest in this one. We’ll have to wait and see on Patriots’ fate.

Stumbled across this looking for something new to watch. Ended up watching Season 1 in a few days and it is one of THE best shows I’ve seen. Up there with Breaking Bad and The Americans. I hope more people see it and that it comes back for Season 2.
TV doesn’t get much better than this… Complex characters coping with life in extreme circumstances. More more more

It runs ‘circles’ – even left-handed drawn ones – around other shows. The lead is crushable. It’s All Good. RENEW
Please renew. The dark comedy, great themes, absurdity, the AMAZING music…. Simply a great show.
Please renew. The show is engaging with wonderful variety of characters each caught up in his or her own existential crises, the main character’s being the deepest and most dramatic. And besides, it is not right to leave him at the train station. He really should get on. I want to know the story of the blonde tattooed lady. Is she really a cop? If not, what? If he doesn’t get on board he and we will never know.

Are you kidding me? This show is a top five for me. I’d put it on the same mantle as Breaking Bad, Black. Mirror and Fargo. You must renew this show just so it exists for others to find. It geniusly written, acted and the cinematography is Terintino as his best. Truly.
