TNT has decided not to renew their Proof TV show for a second season. The life-after-death drama has been cancelled after one short season of 10 episodes.
On Proof, Doctor Carolyn “Cat” Tyler (Jennifer Beals) lost her son, saw her marriage end, and became estranged to her teenage daughter. Looking for purpose, Cat is persuaded by cancer-stricken billionaire Ivan Turing (Matthew Modine) to search for evidence that death is not the end and this takes her on a deeply personal and emotional journey. The rest of the cast includes David Sutcliffe, Joe Morton, Edi Gathegi, Caroline Rose Kaplan, Callum Blue, and Annie Thurman.
Debuting in June, Proof got off to a slow start with a 0.37 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.66 million viewers. The numbers didn’t get better as the weeks progressed and were often worse. The season ended up averaging a 0.31 in the demo with 2.12 million viewers. It was one of the lowest-rated scripted shows on the cable channel.

When is the show on the air
I don’t know why they bother with good shows, when they always cancel them. So what if the ratings weren’t good yet, give it a chance. It was an excellent show.
We enjoyed the show! It was different. Better than all those reality shows they have on now.
Call it the curse of intelligent television. Intelligent TV is something TNT should never, ever be a part of. Stick with fluff, TNT…it’s what you know best.

What a shame; predictable, though: If I like it, forget it.
Not surprised. It was just okay. I don’t know why TNT thought this would do better than Perception, which was a much better show. I’m sure they’ll just stick something else in this timeslot, and we can watch it get cancelled in a few months, too.
Proof was fantastic! Best show on TV Bring it back for more seasons.

Terrible decision that was just getting interestesting loved it good show seems network pulling the plug to fast.
Also very disappointed that they are cancelling it. Really liked the characters and the show. However, I’m not surprised since they did pretty much end the first season in a way that they could cancel it. Still sorry to see it gone.

I’m very disappointed. As an atheist I don’t believe in an afterlife, but I enjoyed how this show handled the subject and the great acting. Going to miss it.
