What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the CBS television network, Pure Genius is a high-tech medical drama. At Bunker Hill Hospital, Silicon Valley tech titan, James Bell (Augustus Prew), pairs brilliant medical minds with technology gurus and sidesteps bureaucracy in the interest of saving lives — including his own. Bell enlists an exceptional, yet controversial veteran surgeon, Dr. Walter Wallace (Dermot Mulroney) to help him revolutionize health care. As Chief of Staff, Dr. Wallace oversees a trail-blazing team including the candid Dr. Zoe Brockett (Odette Annable); the idealistic and overly literal neurosurgeon, Dr. Talaikha Channarayapatra (Reshma Shetty); former gangbanger Dr. Malik Verlaine (Aaron Jennings); intense neurologist Dr. Scott Strauss (Ward Horton); and tech genius Angie Cheng (Brenda Song).
Season One Ratings
The first season of Pure Genius averaged a 0.86 rating in the 18-49 demographic and drawing an average of 5.34 million viewers. Find out how Pure Genius stacks up against the other CBS TV shows.
On May 15, 2017, it was revealed that Pure Genius has been cancelled so there won’t be a second season. Could it be revived someday? Stay tuned for updates.
Telly’s Take
While CBS has not officially cancelled Pure Genius, this medical drama’s prognosis is grim. In November of 2016, after just four installments had aired, the network passed on ordering the back nine episodes of Pure Genius, season one. The only CBS TV show it outperforms in the demo is Elementary. Right now, it looks like the Pure Genius (likely series) finale will air on January 26th. Barring a miracle, CBS will cancel Pure Genius. I have started circling this one and am all but certain there will be no season two.

What do you think? Were you hoping that CBS would renew their Pure Genius TV show for a second season? Are you upset that CBS has cancelled Pure Genius, instead?
My wife and I LOVE Pure Genius because it’s not like any other medical show on TV. She is a nurse and thinks the show pretty accurate as far as medical terminology and possible future procedures. It’s one of our favorite shows and we would be extremely disappointed if it went off the air.
Please don’t cancel the show. Not only is it very entertaining but it gives you hope about the medical field in the future. The cast is great and the stories are amazing. Great imagination on the writers part. I find the show very refreshing and nothing like the normal medical shows of today.
CBS….This is one of the BEST shows on tv. Can’t believe you would not renew.Love the cast and storyline. Please do not cxl.
Don’t cancel the show. Just because those of us over 49 happen to like this show. It shows what technology is out there in the medical area or what will be out there. Very good show.
I watch this show every week and really love it please don’t cancel this show.
pure genius is a great show and my husband and I are hoping for season 2!!! please don’t cancel!!
I love this show, it gives hope to the future of medicine. It is brilliant written. Please do not cancel this show
My three children and I watch, which may I point out with other shows running today are few and far between, and truly enjoy the show. It inspires my children to see into the future of medicine. With continued seasons, it may even inspire them to become the potential doctors portrayed on the serious. Giving those in dire situations a fighting chance. It is inspirational and provides growth, hope, and forward thinking into medicine. Please consider keeping this show on for these and other positive reasons mentioned.
I love to see pure genius
As a medical professional, I love to watch this show! It is so full of hope and dabbles at the edges of what might be coming in the future! Please keep the show on!!!
Please keep Pure Genius on the air. It’s a great show.
I think this show got a raw deal. It started after all the regular shows were established and in my professional circle no one had even heard about the show.
I think it’s a great show. Keep it.
Maybe some good advertising would help.
Exactly right! Such a fantastic show but the 10pm time slot after 2 hours of comedies might not have been the best time to air it!
Save Pure Genius please!!!!!!!!
This is a wonderful show that highlights the future of medical technology. Excellent cast. DON’T cancel!!
I really like this show. Nice to have a show that has no violence and sex. Great to have ones brain exercised with medical possibilities.
Do not cancel it.
This is a wonderful show looking into the future of science and the medical field. As a nurse of 35+ years this is a show not to be missed. Each character is uniquely portrayed. And each story line keeps you thinking wondering what the future may have in store. The show deals with many cultural aspects as well coming together with the same goal of healing their patients. Please
Renew this show. Enough with those useless reality shows.
