A couple weeks ago, FOX shifted their low-rated Rake series to Friday nights. Now, the show is on the move again.
Rake follows a lawyer (Greg Kinnear) who tries to do good but just can’t seem to get beyond his numerous addictions that cause him so much trouble. The cast also includes John Ortiz, Necar Zadegan, Bojana Novakovic, David Harbour, Tara Summers, Miranda Otto, and Ian Colletti.
The series is being replaced by Kitchen Nightmares as of this Friday night. A rerun of the Gordon Ramsay series will lead into the one-hour series finale of Raising Hope at 9pm. Season six of Nightmares kicks off on April 11th.
Back-to-back episodes of Rake will air on Saturday, April 5th, starting at 8pm. That will leave one episode unaired — the sixth installment produced, titled “Mammophile.” No word on when or if that will see the light of day.
One thing is clear however. Despite the fact that FOX hasn’t cancelled it yet, there’s no way that Rake will be returning for a second season.
What do you think? Have you been watching the Rake TV series? Why do you think it hasn’t caught on?
I loved Rake. It was a great show. It was so entertaining and made my husband and I laugh and we so enjoyed it. I just knew it would not have a chance because it was up against shows that were popular and yet there were times that nothing good was on and it would have drawn many viewers.
Please do not cancel. I also loved the show The Glades on a different network and they cancelled it to. It seems the shows that the older generation love are being cancelled — please stop catering to the younger generation!
Typical, I find a show that appeals to me and keeps my interest and the network quits making it. Rake hit a homerun by showing real life issues that those in the public eye face. They need to pick up Rake for a second season. they can’t leave it with Keegan and Scarlet together in bed. Holding out hope for more.
The original show on Aussie TV starred Richard Roxborough who is a consummate actor and writer. Fox or ANY FCC restricted network is the LAST place this adaptation belongs. It is a cable show – OR NETFLICKS original series. Because the protagonist is a drunk, coke-head,sex addict and compulsive gambler – i.e. he’s A REAL HUMAN BEING!! Greg Kinnear does an admirable job with what he’s allowed – which is the Disney version of the source material. Had Matty Blank or HBO or Netflicks picked up this HIGHLY RATED show – it would’ve worked. But Rupert Murdoch’s ultra conservative Fox… Read more »
Rake is one of the smartest show since House and Fringe. Please keep it on.
The show is highly entertaining. You never know what will happen next. The series should have been better promoted. I just happened across it, got hooked, and am disappointed it is ending.
What a travesty great show hopefully it will be picked up.
I frickking love this show!!! Every good show gets cancelled!! WHY IN THE HELL DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING? Best show on tv! Smdh
Are you kidding me…..this is so typical of a network to cancel a show before giving it a chance. I LOVE THIS SHOW. I agree with the previous comment…..I, too, would watch Greg Konnear anytime, anywhere. What a different, original show. If FOX doesn’t want it, I hope a cable channel picks it up. Lately, the only shows the major networks want to air are Reality Shows. Enough already.
I love the show! I wish Fox would leave it in 1 spot long enough to connect with an audience. I’m sick of all the same old “reality” shows & Rake was different. Please someone pick it up & give it the chance it deserves.
I can’t believe the US has adapted an Aussie show but my god I’m so happy it’s this one. Haven’t seen the American one yet but I love Greg kinnear. Hope it stays on for all of you on the other side of the world, if not, give the Aussie one a try.
Too entertaining for its audience I guess.
I can’t believe that tptb would not give this show a chance. It was refreshing, entertaining and a unique approach to entertainment. We have not seen that for quite a while. Once it had to compete with American Idol, it was almost homework to discover when it would air again. Greg Kinnear is a very talented actor. With so little of value or interest to watch on television these days, I hope that this show gets another chance in a time slot that we can count on. A lot of people I know are just giving up on TV….we are… Read more »
I DID love the show, despite every woman on it is portrayed badly. I STOPPED loving the show after this last episode. I draw the line at a dog having sex with owners.
My husband and I love this show. It’s very witty and entertaining! I hope another network picks it up.
Love this show…..didn’t get much of a chance.
They kept changing the night it would be aired…..which has now caused me to miss the two episodes aired on Sat. April 5th.
I hope it is picked-up by people who know what they’re doing!
Sad!
I LOVE Greg Kinnear ! I am watching him on Ellen right now. I NEVER watch Ellen so this proves how much I love him . I will watch him anywhere, anytime, on anything!
It is amazing to me that a show is being cancelled without finishing the first season. How do you expect a show to survive if you keep changing air date and time. You aren’t even giving it a chance!! Greg Kinnear and the rest of the cast is so entertaining. Love this show and now it it being taken away 🙁 Very unfair….
