A couple weeks ago, FOX shifted their low-rated Rake series to Friday nights. Now, the show is on the move again.
Rake follows a lawyer (Greg Kinnear) who tries to do good but just can’t seem to get beyond his numerous addictions that cause him so much trouble. The cast also includes John Ortiz, Necar Zadegan, Bojana Novakovic, David Harbour, Tara Summers, Miranda Otto, and Ian Colletti.
The series is being replaced by Kitchen Nightmares as of this Friday night. A rerun of the Gordon Ramsay series will lead into the one-hour series finale of Raising Hope at 9pm. Season six of Nightmares kicks off on April 11th.
Back-to-back episodes of Rake will air on Saturday, April 5th, starting at 8pm. That will leave one episode unaired — the sixth installment produced, titled “Mammophile.” No word on when or if that will see the light of day.
One thing is clear however. Despite the fact that FOX hasn’t cancelled it yet, there’s no way that Rake will be returning for a second season.
What do you think? Have you been watching the Rake TV series? Why do you think it hasn’t caught on?
Wonderful show, so funny with some downright lovable characters. Are we really willing to lower ourselves to “Idiot” humor, because that’s what’s happening if you take adult humor away? Different shows for different folks, we need the variety.
Really? Rake is fun to watch with enjoyable characters and interesting storylines. Of course it gets the axe! The only FOX show I watched. At least I can delete them from my channel lineup again. Thanks
Rake is simply a funny an extremely entertaining program why anyone would consider canceling this series is simply someone who hasn’t watch the program. My and wife I truly look forward to watching characters striving to improve their lot by stumbling into success by the skin of their chins every episode. Its brillant acting and the writers have formed some great characters whom we are pulling for to succeed. Please do not cancel this series……
OMG…SERIOUSLY? It’s one of the VERY few prime time shows that is actually entertaining! It’s SMART and FUNNY and leaves you wanting more!
It’s frightening to know that replacing Rake with Kitchen Nightmares and/or Raising Hope will increase the number of viewers. REALLY? Very well put Don Moss April 20, 2014 at 1:54 pm. …”Dumbing down of America.”
Love the show. Funny, witty, and always can’t wait for the next episode. Do not cancel!!!
Why would this show be canceled? The casting was perfection, the episodes were brash, funny and the scrip fast paced and authentic. Instead we are left with garbage like The Following written by people who understand little about the nature of psyhchophathology.
It’s a shame that quality, intelligent, humorous shows like rake are cancelled. All about
Dumbing down of America.
I enjoy the show very much. Please leave it on.
It would be a shame to cancel Rake!!!!!! It’s one of the best new shows….we made a point to watch it every week.
refreshing, please do not cancel
Love love this show don’t cancel please
Oh no! I really enjoyed RAKE…the story line was halarious ! This show has a new look on lawyers and politics a funny spin on the whole thing. I am sad that the show was canceled. I am hoping that someone else will pick it up and or maybe it can go directly to a webcast..?.
Love this show, please do not cancel.
We certainly hope Fox decides not to cancel one of our favorite weekly, evening programs. Rake, with Greg Kinnear and cast came across as witty, funny, and full of well written surprises. We were certainly disappointed to find this amusing comedy had reached the last episode of its first season. Please give it a chance and do some PR, so others have the opportunity to see where this laugh-a-minute series can pick up where we last chuckled.
Um, the audience got to see the final episode….it was the SIXTH episode that inexplicably never aired, despite the fact it clearly included some key plot points which made the subsequent episodes a little harder to figure out. Shame on Fox for not airing the show in proper sequence….just like it did with “Enlisted.”
Stop begging for this show not to be cancelled. It was dead the millisecond it was moved to Friday. And what a shame, as it was a great series with real promise. But Fox pretty much killed it.
