Shots Fired, a limited series coming to FOX, has cast its lead male actor. Stephen James, who was last seen on the big screen in Race, will star alongside Sanaa Lathan.
This series will follow what happens after a racially charged shooting happens in a small town in Tennessee. James’ character will be sent with Lathan’s character to investigate the shooting and the events that followed.
The Hollywood Reporter shared more about James’ role on the series. It was revealed that:
“James is set to star as Preston, the special prosecutor for the civil rights division of the DOJ. He is focused on winning, but Preston’s dogged pursuit comes with an emotional cost. The character is described as a chameleon who can talk with everyone from reverends to kids on the street and can charm Republican senators who crave power and approval.”
James has appeared on the small screen. He appeared on The L.A. Complex and Book of Negroes.
