Based on the popular cartoons of The New Yorker’s Charles Addams, The Addams Family has to be one of the most unusual clans to ever entertain the television viewing public.
Gomez Addams (John Astin) is the wealthy patriarch of the macabre household and has a true zest for life. He absolutely adores his sexy wife Morticia (Carolyn Jones) and their two strange children; son Pugsley (Ken Weatherwax) and daughter Wednesday (Lisa Loring). Living with them are Morticia’s bizzare Uncle Fester (Jackie Coogan), Gomez’s fortune-telling mother (Blossom Rock), a disembodied hand named Thing (Ted Cassidy), and super-sized butler Lurch (Ted Cassidy). Long-haired cousin Itt (Felix Silla) frequently stops by the family mansion located at 0001 Cemetery Lane to take part in the crazy adventures.
Unfortunately, all good (and strange) things must come to an end. The Addams Family lasted just two seasons. On April 8, 1966, ABC aired the 64th and final episode called Ophelia’s Career. Morticia?s sister, Ophelia (Jones in a blonde wig) is jilted yet again and Gomez and Morticia resolve to find a perfect career for her to distract her from her man troubles. Things only get stranger from there. Tune in!
