It appears that ABC intends for The Assets to be a mini-series with just eight episodes. But, if the show is a big hit in the ratings, can a second season be far behind? What will happen? Stay tuned!
The Assets revolves around the real life events of CIA counter-intelligence officers Sandy Grimes (Jodie Whittaker) and Jeanne Vertefeuille (Harriet Walter) and their search for the most notorious traitor in US History, Aldrich Ames (Paul Rhys). Others in the cast include Stuart Milligan, Julian Ovenden, Christina Cole, and Ralph Brown.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. The Assets: A great program and and even more wonderful history lesson. I would like to see more. There seems to be no set time or day for the program to air. I find it most disturbing.
So disappointed! Where are the last 4 episodes that were already taped! Remember when this happened and was looking forward to seeing the actual story not just the hype of the moment that we only heard the highlights of while it actually happened due to the sensitive nature of the actual CIA events. Truly hope they air the remaining 4 already taped episodes! At this point I can’t even record the final ones left!
We both think it is a fantastic show. No wonder the ratings are low. One never knows when the Assets will show, and when it is scheduled it is pulled for something else.

I’ve really enjoyed The Assets an I hope that they will air the remaining episodes. Two of the best new shows of this past season have been cancelled, The Assets and Rake. I guess if you take into account the massive number of hours of reality shows, wrestling and mixed martial arts programs that occupy the prime time schedule it makes sense that intelligent and witty shows just can’t make the cut.
I love this series. I wish they would at least finish showing the already taped shows. I have watched 3 (taped the 4th) and will be real disappointed to not see it end. Its too bad historical events are preempted with foolish reality shows – batchelor/ette, foul mouthed wives, etc.
This Is Our History. I Liked The Show From First Episode And Was Wondering What Happened To It After The 2Nd One. was excited To See It Show Back Up On My Dvr. Only To Find Canceled. some Of The Comments Are True! Watching Reality Tv And Seeing It Continue For Years Is Sad And Silly But Something That IS OUr History No Ratings. Why No craziness OR Explosions. Massive Murder Stories Lines Or Medical Drama Love Triangles. But What OUR Country Did To Keep Us Safe And How It Was done Without Love Triangles And Explosions. So far I’ve enjoyed the 4 episodes that have aired. I remember when it happened for I was a teenager. ABC THIS IS HISTORY!! OUR history. I don’t understand our TV programming for they will air TRASH such as the Kardashians and other reality shows that are mindless, but NOTHING when it comes to True Stories on our history. No wonder there is a dumbing down of American. Our schools don’t even teach the TRUE history any more — it all has to be Politically Correct now. KEEP showing THE ASSETS. I am very disappointed that this show was cancelled, I would really like the chance to be able to see how this series ends!!!
It is unfortunate, I had my DVR set to tape this show and I thought something was wrong the settings when I wasn’t getting new tapings. Haven’t watched the episodes yet, meant to get the series first being that there were only 8 episodes. Not sure I should watch any of it now, probably only be disappointed at this point.
I enjoyed Assets very much and remember when this occurred. I would love to see this show return to ABC.
