It seems BBC Two and RTÉ One have quietly cancelled The Fall TV show. The Northern Ireland crime drama stars Gillian Anderson, Jamie Dornan, John Lynch and Archie Panjabi. The first series (season) of The Fall, premiered in May 2013.
A new Deadline report that The Fall is shooting its third and final season, makes a fourth season seem unlikely. Back in March 2015, Gillian Anderson said she thought The Fall could go four seasons. When The Fall was renewed for a third season, a couple of weeks prior to her comments, the BBC’s Kim Shillinglaw implied season three would end the show.
Upon the third season renewal, Shillinglaw said, “[creator] Allan [Cubitt] has known the end game from the beginning — the cat and mouse game between Gillian and Jamie has one last act to play out. Who will win?”

The story picks up immediately from the cliffhanger Season 2 finale as the battle between Detective Superintendent Gibson (Anderson) and serial killer Paul Spector (Dornan) heads towards a “terrifying conclusion” in which the rules of their deadly cat-and-mouse game are set to shift again.

Even before his turn in the salacious Fifty Shades of Grey film, Dornan had ardent fans on both sides of the pond. Fans (and recappers) still have not forgiven ABC‘s Once Upon a Time for killing off his character Sheriff Graham. Anderson, of course, has collected legions of followers, over the course of her successful career.
It will be interesting to watch how fans receive the news that The Fall is ending, and even more interesting to see if their outcries change network and creative minds.
The season three premiere date of The Fall has yet to be announced. Stateside, the first two seasons of The Fall are available for streaming, from Netflix.

I just discovered this show a couple days ago and have been binge watching it today, so I’m almost done with season one. I’ve liked Jamie since Once Upon a Time. He’s great in The Fall. I’d love to see it continue.
Please don’t cancel ! I have finally found a series which I love as much as The Killing and I hate to see it go !
Of course I would watch Season 4 of The Fall! But, I’m disgusted with the sloppy violence season 3 ended on since throughout Seasons 1 and 2 the implied violence was much more effective. Why not continue the series with new plots/crimes with Jillian Anderson in place?

Cancel it or kill Spectre and move on. It’s becoming “The Killing”
A real brain feast! Each episode leaves us wondering who, what and why. The storyline is gripping and the characters are developed in great detail by an excellent cast. The series shows us the reality of police work and the skills required to achieve results despite the internal politics.
Please renew this show or at least create a spin off police action drama with the same actors

Paul Spector proves that Dornan can be a respected actor and conquer the sceptics after the trashy 50 shades… . Gillian Anderson is amazing as usual. A true diva!

I am so disappointed there will be no season 4 of The Fall. It is one of the best shows on television. Hey network saviors – save this show. It is incredible. I would watch a season 4, 5, 6, 7, etc…. Gillian Anderson is one of the best actors of our time. She is a true chameleon of drama!
