One of the few ABC TV series to show season-to-season growth in the ratings, The Goldbergs has been renewed for a third season.
Set in the late 1980s, The Goldbergs, revolves around a family from Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. Youngest son Adam (Sean Giambrone) videotapes his family’s craziness and provides commentary as an adult (Patton Oswalt). The rest of the cast includes Wendi McLendon-Covey, Troy Gentile, Hayley Orrantia, George Segal, and Jeff Garlin.
What a difference a timeslot can make. The Goldbergs struggled in its first season but ABC renewed it and moved it to Wednesday nights, sandwiched between The Middle and Modern Family.
That led to a big boost in the ratings for season two. It’s currently averaging a2.19 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.06 million viewers. That’s a season-to-season increase of 30% and 40% respectively.
What do you think? Are you watching The Goldbergs? Are you glad that it’s been renewed?
