Before it even premiered, The New Normal was “cancelled” by an affiliate station in Utah. NBC is hoping that some of the “controversy” surrounding this show will draw big ratings week after week.
Revolving around a gay couple and their surrogate, The New Normal features the talents of Andrew Rannells, Justin Bartha, Georgia King, Ellen Barkin, NeNe Leakes, Bebe Wood, and Jayson Blair.
These are the TV show’s ratings for the 2012-13 season, the best way to tell if The New Normal is going to be cancelled or renewed for a second season. The show typically airs on Tuesday nights and NBC has ordered 13 22 episodes.
These figures will be updated as the weeks progress so be sure to bookmark and return to this page:

The “special preview” of The New Normal had an okay start in the ratings. It won its timeslot but lost 40% of its lead-in audience. The numbers may have been negatively impacted by the fact that NBC released the pilot online weeks ago and they added this preview to the schedule just last week. Those who read TV Guide were expecting to see a new episode of Grimm.
On the plus side, NBC was up by 56% when compared to the 2011 timeslot occupant, the Miss Universe Pageant. Ultimately, the sitcom’s fate will become more clear as the weeks progress. The only thing we know right now is that it’s not a big hit or a big flop right out of the gate.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like The New Normal TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Good show but will not watch with Nene in it or when she is on Glee.
David from this show is one of my inspirations for working towards a better future. Every week, this show fills me with absolute joy. As a gay student in college, I look to this show for a glimpse into what life could be like for me after medical school. The show is absolutely hilarious and inspirational, and I sincerely hope it gets renewed for another season!
I absoluetly love this show. I didn’t care for Nene prior to this but love her on this show. Please, please bring it back! Love Justin Bartha and Andrew, and John Stamos as guest star. This beats any other comedy on TV – including Modern Family – great writing. I love the “bluntness” and topics they talk about. VERY FUNNY!
Started out funny but the premise was very thin and has outlived its usefulness. Little Miss sunshine copycat is super annoying and nothing interesting ever happens. Go back to “Book of Mormon”, I would love to see you in that!
I agree. It has become predictable and annoying.
i dont like the show because of nene, has anybody seen how she has acted on the atlantic housewife in the past , like a animal, she doesnt belong in this show
Nene is a ‘mean’ girl. She thrives on other peoples misfortune. I don’t watch Glee or any other show she is on because of her behavior. Brave, get rid of her.
YES!! We So need the New Normal. Great cast, fabulous writing, important issues. PLEASE!! This gives me reason to turn on the TV on Tuesday nights.
Let them dismiss Nine Leaks from the show and you can count on it staying on the air.
i agree on that she dont belong there
Nene does NOT belong there. Get rid of her.
Its a great show. It is centered around today’s definition of the family unit.
Love it, funny and fresh
I love this show. I have really grown to love the characters. Shania is hilarious. I will be very disappointed if the show gets canned. I watch a lot of series and this one is one of my favorites because it is lighthearted and modern.
This show is awesome!! It shows that no one should be ashamed of who they are/like
And that any type of person/couple can start a family
Keep going I love this show
Xx
The show is MEH. I watched the first few episodes and then it was off of my DVR and I do not miss it. Cancel the show and free up the slot so we can see something more entertaining.
Without ‘The Voice’ as a lead-in, 1.1 rating. Why is this show still on the air? Because it’s politically correct. That’s not gonna be enough to generate the revenue necessary to keep it on the air. It needs viewers that it ain’t gonna get. Will it be a quick death, or a slow, painful one?
Ellen Barkin alone is worth the show. Moreover, each character presents his/her story in a witty, understandable, and empathetic way. Highly intelligent in its social commenatry and supurbly written, this program is a definite keeper.
I was only able to catch a couple of episodes and now I’m wishing I could have seen it more. I think there should be a marathon so that everyone can get a “feel” for the show to understand the “tone” of it. love it..
