canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

Under the Dome: CBS TV Show Ending; No Season Four

by Trevor Kimball, August 31, 2015

Under the Dome TV show on CBS: canceled, no season 4Fans of CBS‘ Under the Dome series will finally get some answers. The network has announced that the Thursday night drama will come to an end after three seasons, on Thursday, September 10th.

Here are the details:

THE DOME WILL COME DOWN AND ITS MYSTERIOUS ORIGINS REVEALED DURING THE SERIES FINALE OF “UNDER THE DOME,” THURSDAY, SEPT. 10

CBS announced today that the Dome in Chester’s Mill will come down and its mysteries revealed during the series finale of UNDER THE DOME on Thursday, Sept. 10. Based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel, UNDER THE DOME debuted Monday, June 24, 2013 and has been one of the most-watched shows on television for the past three summers.

In the series finale, when the Dome comes down, many questions about its origin and power will be answered, as two groups of residents engage in one final conflict that some won’t survive.

“Two years ago, UNDER THE DOME broke new ground in the summer and became an instant hit on CBS, as well as with viewers around the world,” said Nina Tassler, Chairman, CBS Entertainment. “DOME’s event storytelling and multi-platform business model paved the way for more original summer programming with the successful rollouts of EXTANT and ZOO. We’re excited to present the final chapter in Chester’s Mill as the story comes full circle, with the Dome coming down as dramatically as it went up.”

All three seasons of UNDER THE DOME will continue to be available for unlimited streaming to fans and members of Amazon’s Prime Video, which has been the exclusive subscription video on demand (SVOD) home for DOME since the show premiered.

About “Under the Dome”

UNDER THE DOME tells the story of a small town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome. Combating Dome and man-made threats daily, the residents of Chester’s Mill rose to new heights of ingenuity, courage and, for some, darkness, in order to survive their post-apocalyptic isolation. Mike Vogel, Rachelle Lefevre, Dean Norris, Eddie Cahill, Alexander Koch, Colin Ford, Mackenzie Lintz and Kylie Bunbury star. UNDER THE DOME is produced by CBS Television Studios and Amblin Television. Steven Spielberg, Neal Baer, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Stacey Snider, Tim Schlattmann and Peter Leto are executive producers.

What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Under the Dome is ending? Would you have watched a fourth season or should the series have ended awhile ago?

I truly loved this show until it went to people coming out of alien pods. It just got ridiculous and we quit watching. Never even finished out the season because of it! Then they wonder why their ratings dropped. CBS has done nothing but disappoint me for a while now. They always cancel the really good shows to replace with shows you are looking at each other like what! Really! I’m so sick of reality shows and just had cable turned back on. But now I’m thinking of turning it back off. I was even willing to pay for their… Read more »

I do not understand this cancelation. Every new and wonderfully different series seems to get the axe. Always the series that copycats other series go season after season. Sick of them! Keep fresh with our Under The Dome and Extant series …..PLEASE! Missing The Mentalist – another “Original”. Back to cable for me.

What the heck! I love Under the Dome and was so looking forward to the next season with Big Jim, what happened to Joe and the other characters.

I hope Netflix picks it up. I would definitely join to continue watching the series.

I am not sorry to see it end, it was supposed to be a 13-week event anyway. The second season started out OK, then it went on a totally different direction which, in my opinion, completely ruined the series. The extra seasons were contrived by the network to stretch out a good “short story” into a weird fiasco for the sake of ratings. If you can find the original story, you will see how the network played the viewers, again. Please understand that when you create a limited series, stay true to your word. I like a good sci-fi story.… Read more »

My wife and I have never missed a single episode of Under The Dome, and we are very upset and disappointed again, by CBS always taking all the shows we have watched. We are so sick of reality shows, and don’t understand why anyone would watch such CRAP??? Under The Dome was a good show and it should have been renewed for another season!!! CBS you have just lost a bunch more of loyal viewers, we know why you chose reality shows over decent shows like Under The Dome, is because they are way cheaper to put on! Well from… Read more »

I’m glad its ending. Series was getting really boring with the back and forth drama of whose under the spell of the Dome or not. Should have ended it last Season. Should have stuck to the plot of the original Stephen King Novel. Too much high drama and lame story line. Its time for something better.

Very sorry to see this series end. We have watched it since day one and found it to be one of the best of the summer shows even with all the commercial interruptions. A real disappointment.
