Move over Outlaw, NBC has cancelled another new series. The spy dramedy Undercovers is ending its run after 13 episodes.
Undercovers revolves around a married pair of former spies who are pulled back into service after their close friend goes missing. The TV show features the talents of Boris Kodjoe, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mekia Cox, Carter MacIntyre, Gerald McRaney, and Ben Schwartz.
The series stumbled right out of the gate and attracted a disappointing 2.1 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 8.7 million viewers. In week two, the demo fell by 24% to a 1.6 rating and the numbers essentially kept on falling. Last night’s episode hit a new demo low with a 1.3 rating and 5.913 million total viewers.
Though NBC ordered four additional scripts in mid-October, the studio suspected that that show’s been doomed for quite awhile. Today, the network made it official — Undercovers has been cancelled.
It remains to be seen if fans of the series will get to see all 13 installments. Seven episodes have aired so far and three more are scheduled for November 10th, November 17th, and December 1st. NBC has a Shrek holiday special scheduled for Thanksgiving eve (November 24th) and The Sing-Off will take over the timeslot on December 8th.
Three episodes of Undercovers will be left on the shelf at that point and the network will decide at a later date if or when they’ll air.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Undercovers is coming to an end? Why do you think it didn’t catch on? How would you have fixed it?

Every time a great show comes along, they go and canel it. Why can’t they just leave the show alone. I really love this show and because of the show I’m watching this network. I usually watch only CBS but because of the Blooms, I’m watching NBC. I will say this, if this show is cancelled then that’s it for me and this network……
I just found out that NBC cancelled one of my favorite shows “Undercover”. I really enjoyed watching this series. It has everything comedy, edgy, adventure, sexy but not too much. The stars are wonderful, great chemistry. Love the storyline. Please reconsider.
It’s sad that all today’s society wants to watch are reality shows displaying talentless people doing unimportant things. I’m sick of watching people lose weight, (we get it by now, we are overweight), hang candy canes on string (minute to win it) or choose numbered briefcases to win cash. While this crap can be entertaining at times, I would like to finally watch something with substance. Undercovers delivered a combination of action, love story and conflict. When will people look past the reality show garbage and see it for what it really is, just that, garbage.
I totally agree with all of the previous posts. I loved this show! I too recorded it on DVR and over the Christmas break was able to catch up. How exciting! Now we are going to be left hanging….ugh! Who else is tired of reality shows taking over?
I loved this show! The first couple of episodes were OK, but as they started developing the characters, and their secrets, it was really getting interesting. Very disappointed. They should have looked for a different time slot. Now we are left hanging with many questions unanswered.
This show is great!!,,,It should have showed more of the guy and his bald hotness!!!!!
I don’t understand what happened my husband and I enjoyed the show very much
if you cancell a show you should actually end it instead of leaving us hanging.
I also liked outlaw. maybe you should air new shows on the weekend when there is no
compitition instead of repeats although I do watch the repeats of svu because I miss
through the week.
I can’t understand how I can enjoy so many new series shows and find they are canceled – such as Moonlight, Cane, Three Rivers, Outlaw, Undercovers to name a few. I am very disappointed.
Undercovers was a great show that I watched faithfully every Wednesday. NBC is making a great mistake by this cancellation. With all of these crappy reality shows flooding the networks Undercovers was nice replacement. The network really dropped the ball.
OMG are you serious???? What in the world I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!! They keep taking off all the good shows that the family can watch together. My kids and I loved watching this as a family. At least make a Season 2 on DVD only or let another station buy it and bring it back. I’m so upset why don’t they let the public choose what to keep and what not to??? BRING IT BACK OR ON A DVD!!!!!!
I think the executives at NBC don’t realize whats good and whats not. Both Undercovers and Outlaw were two great shows, they beat the other programs that NBC has on their network currently. If they were struggling with the times slot change the time to another day to see if ratings improved. There isn’t a program currently running on NBC that I is worth of me watching.
Typical! Why doesn’t NBC cancel all of their tv shows that have plot, substance, storyline and style, then replace them all with some sort of reality show geared towards an audience with the intelligence of an amoeba. Oh right, they’re trying to do that already. I wonder if shows such as Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Ed Sullivan, I Love Lucy etc would have lasted more than a couple of months with the idiots running programming on NBC these days. Get with it people, audiences love continuity, stability; which means shows on at the same time, on the same channel and on the… Read more »
Undercovers is a great show! My husband and I enjoyed it very much, taking it off of the air is a BIG MISTAKE!
My wife and I totally enjoyed the series, and believe NBC to be making shift mistake. The show was exciting, smart, sexy, great stirrings, etc.!
NBC blows!! Cancelled Undercovers AND Outlaw!?!?! Pshh~ Maybe try running them longer then a month and try a different time slot to see if the ratings would go up. Fall time everyone is busy trying to get into a new schedule and mode, give them a chance to “Get into” the show!! I had DVR’d these shows and just got to watch them recently…I LOVED them and now to find out their cancelled?!?! Very disappointed in NBC…get rid of all the “reality” crap and give some an INTERESTING storyline, not some fluzy fake reality crap.
