EW reports Legend of the Seeker star, Craig Horner, will play the Count of Monte Cristo, in the upcoming sixth season of ABC‘s Once Upon a Time. The title character from the Alexandre Dumas novel, Edmond Dantès is an innocent man framed for and wrongfully accused of treason. Once he escapes an island fortress prison, Dantès is hellbent on revenge. The Revenge TV series, which was cancelled after four seasons on ABC was inspired by the book.
EW says, “Horner will appear in at least one episode in season 6, though details on what he’ll be doing are being kept under wraps.” Perhaps, but one of the aliases Dantès uses is Sinbad the Sailor. It seems at least likely Horner will play that previously announced character, as well. The other aliases Dantès assumes are Abbé Busoni and Lord Wilmore.
At the end of the fifth season, Once Upon a Time entered the Land of Untold Stories, which greatly enlarged Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz’s sandbox. Do you think in the Once Upon a Time version of his story, Regina might have imprisoned this character for helping Snow White? Share your speculation in the comments. No spoilers, please.
Once Upon a Time season six premieres on ABC, Sunday, September 25, 2016 at 8:00pm ET/PT.
