canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

Welcome to Sweden

Welcome to Sweden TV show on NBCNetwork: NBC
Episodes: 20 (half-hour)
Seasons: Two

TV show dates: July 10, 2014 — July 26, 2015
Series status: Cancelled

Performers include: Greg Poehler, Josephine Bornebusch, Lena Olin, Claes Månsson, Christopher Wagelin, Per Svensson, Patrick Duffy, and Illeana Douglas.

TV show description:
Based on events in the life of Greg Poehler, this comedy TV show revolves around Bruce Evans (Poehler) and Emma Wiik (Josephine Bornebusch), seemingly the perfect couple. He’s a successful money manager to the stars in New York. He lives with Emma, the sweet woman from Sweden whom he loves and adores. A rare combination of intelligent, funny, kind and beautiful, Emma believes she has finally found her true soul mate in Bruce.

After being with him a year, she makes the life-changing decision to move back to her native Stockholm to accept a prestigious banking job. She’s surprised and thrilled that he agrees to move with her to begin a new life together.

With no job, friends or any real clue about what he is getting himself into, Bruce is quick to face many unique challenges and culture clashes. The most notable one is how to win over Emma’s strange and very Swedish family.

They move in with her parents — Viveka (Lena Olin) and Birger (Claes Månsson). Viveka is a therapist who dearly loves her family but has difficulty showing it — especially to Emma. She also takes an instant dislike Bruce. Birger is a retired sea captain and is a typical Swede — tall, kind and silent. He doesn’t speak much English which only adds to the communication barriers.

Emma’s younger brother is Gustav (Christopher Wagelin), a 28-year old mega-slacker who can do no wrong in his mother’s eyes. Birger’s younger brother is Bengt (Per Svensson), an American-adoring rockabilly type who seems to live his life through Hollywood movies.

Bruce’s parents are Wayne (Patrick Duffy) and Nancy (Illeana Douglas). Wayne is conservative by nature and resides in a small Midwestern town. Nancy wants nothing but the best for her son, but can’t comprehend his decision to leave his happy life in New York.

Series Finale:
Episode #20 — Sexy Dancing/Bröllopet
After watching a viral video online, Emma wants to have the wedding party dance into the church, but a problem arises in rehearsal. Gustav introduces his girlfriend to the family. Guest stars: Rachel Mohlin, Per Svensson, Amy Poehler, and Aubrey Plaza.
First aired: June 3, 2015 (in Sweden).

Hi Robert. I totally agree with you. What a great show! I really hope they will keep it. I’m Swedish and married to an American man and we both love it! I agree with you, Swedish people are a little weird. Over all we are good though, honest and hard working.

Just discovered the show on demand. It’s great and more enjoyable than most shows on tv. I enjoy the subtitles. They make for a more authentic and interesting show. They are in Sweden after all.

Welcome to Sweden is a real treat – the subtitles add another dimension to the characters’ interaction. I’ve told many friends about it and they like it too. Keep it on. Love all those tall blonde Sweds.

I love this show! It’s way funnier than stupid shows like How I Met Your Mother or Two and a Half Men. Those shows are so fake in their comedy. But Welcome to Sweden’s comedy is more natural, you don’t get a “funny line” every 2 minutes. Besides being funny, it also has drama and you can learn a lot about Sweden from watching. A Swedish friend of mine confirmed that everything he saw in the show thus far was indeed accurate. I love how the show puts in subtitles when the people are speaking Swedish so I can understand… Read more »

Please do not remove this intelligent and entertaining tv show from the air waves. Please give it a chance and maintain the good writing. It’s audience will grow. But don’t remove the subtitles, it would hurt viewership because we won’t know what’s being said or how the plot is being driven. This is an original. Do Not Cancel

Thanks,

Cee

Please remove the subtitles. My mom is 84 yr old with a vision problem and I think this could be an enjoyable show, but I highly dislike shows that are subtitled. I am distracted by that type. Also my mom has vision problems, and would enjoy it if she didnt have to listen to my reading the words of the subtitles.

My favorite. – so refreshing. I do not see the last 2 shows of the season appearing on nbc – just nbcw. AND shows 1200 midnight. This is what Direct TV shows in verifying my episodes. When I set up by show I miss a little of the beginning and end so was going to go manual not to miss a minute
