TV show description:
This sci-fi police drama takes place 35 years into the future, in the year 2048. It’s a world in which police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids.
Detective John Kennex (Karl Urban) is a cop who’s survived one of the most catastrophic attacks ever made against the police department. He wakes up after a 17-month coma. He can’t remember much — except that his partner was killed. He’s lost one of his legs and is now outfitted with a highly sophisticated synthetic appendage. He suffers from depression, mental atrophy, trauma-onset OCD, PTSD and the “psychological rejection of his synthetic body part.”
John returns to work at the encouragement of his longtime ally, Captain Sandra Maldonado (Lili Taylor). Every cop must now be paired with a robot and, despite his passionate aversion to androids, John is no exception.
He’s partnered with a battle-ready MX-43 model. He abruptly terminates this pairing after the robot discovers incriminating information about him. As a result, technician Rudy Lom (Mackenzie Crook) introduces John to Dorian (Michael Ealy), a discontinued android with unexpected emotional responses.
Although these responses were deemed flaws, it’s these “flaws” that John relates to Dorian most — John is part-machine and Dorian is part-human. John and Dorian’s understanding of each other not only complements them, it connects them.
As he adjusts to working with his new partner, John also must learn to get along with his new colleagues, like the sharp and insightful human intelligence analyst Detective Valerie Stahl (Minka Kelly) and Detective Richard Paul (Michael Irby), a distrustful man who doesn’t welcome John back with open arms.
Episode #13 – Straw Man
Kennex and Dorian revisit the past when a string of murders are similar to those committed by a serial killer who was put in jail by Kennex’s father. Dorian gets his first performance review after being reactivated.
First aired: March 3, 2014.
What do you think? Do you like the Almost Human TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for another season?
Another great show canceled. I do not understand people. This was the only show I watched in real times. I love this show. Please reconsider.
Seriously, with all the other junk programs, they cancelled this one. I think it would have been worth FOX to have given it another season. Other than Bones, Sleepy Hollow and Cosmos, there is nothing else to watch on FOX.
I think it is a travesty that this show was cancelled. While it may not have been original, it was very entertaining
Great show and I REALLY regret that it has been canceled. I watched every episode, cannot say that about anything else…
Fox is making a huge mistake cancelling this show.It was awesome and there was so much potential there!
Loved this show… The whole family watched it!! They never gave it a chance.
I am not a fan of future sci-fi, BUT, I have to say this is one I truly enjoy watching. Why is it that all the good new shows are cancelled? Perhaps it just needs to be placed in a different time slot/day.
Another good show cancelled without giving it a chance. why do the networks cancel the good shows and keep the lousy ones?
Almost Human is our favorite show on TV!! My family recorded every episode, and thankfully we still have them. PLEASE BRING IT BACK, we loved it, and it was the #1 choice for the whole family. The cancellation made my daughter cry, and I am pretty upset also!!
Great TV show.I remember FOX cancelling a show titled Firefly once upon a time.Idiots
Please help bring back this show, is not human to cancel almost human
I hate the fact that this show was canceled. If you haven’t noticed, FOX usualy will cancel most of thier new shows. They put these new shows in time slots that already have well established shows on other channels then wonder why no one watches. I don’t know who is running this channel, but they need to get rid of them before everyone stops watching FOX. Maybe the shareholders will notice they aren’t making any money then FOX might start listening to thier viewers.
We loved this show!!! The overall plot was fairly original and the individual shows did well on their own. What we really liked was the on screen presence of Karl Urban and Michael Ealy. They had such great rapport and the banter between them was really funny.. I’ve seen very successful shows survive with much less than what this show has. I’m very disappointed it didn’t get picked up.. With all the crap on ice out there, this can’t make it to a second season? Reminds me of Firefly… Damnit
I went to http://www.fox.com/almost-human/ and submitted feedback (click on the feedback link at the bottom of the page) and asked Fox to reconsider their decision o cancel this series. I urge all of you to do the same, if you want to see a second season. Maybe if enough of us complain, they will renew for another season.
Thanks for the info Jack. I submitted my thoughts to the feedback link, and am passing this on to others.
This was one of the best shows on television. I cannot believe it didn’t get renewed!
HORRIBLE move, Fox. This was the ONLY show I regularly watched on my local Fox affiliate, KOKI.
