TV show description:
This sci-fi police drama takes place 35 years into the future, in the year 2048. It’s a world in which police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids.
Detective John Kennex (Karl Urban) is a cop who’s survived one of the most catastrophic attacks ever made against the police department. He wakes up after a 17-month coma. He can’t remember much — except that his partner was killed. He’s lost one of his legs and is now outfitted with a highly sophisticated synthetic appendage. He suffers from depression, mental atrophy, trauma-onset OCD, PTSD and the “psychological rejection of his synthetic body part.”
John returns to work at the encouragement of his longtime ally, Captain Sandra Maldonado (Lili Taylor). Every cop must now be paired with a robot and, despite his passionate aversion to androids, John is no exception.
He’s partnered with a battle-ready MX-43 model. He abruptly terminates this pairing after the robot discovers incriminating information about him. As a result, technician Rudy Lom (Mackenzie Crook) introduces John to Dorian (Michael Ealy), a discontinued android with unexpected emotional responses.
Although these responses were deemed flaws, it’s these “flaws” that John relates to Dorian most — John is part-machine and Dorian is part-human. John and Dorian’s understanding of each other not only complements them, it connects them.
As he adjusts to working with his new partner, John also must learn to get along with his new colleagues, like the sharp and insightful human intelligence analyst Detective Valerie Stahl (Minka Kelly) and Detective Richard Paul (Michael Irby), a distrustful man who doesn’t welcome John back with open arms.
Episode #13 – Straw Man
Kennex and Dorian revisit the past when a string of murders are similar to those committed by a serial killer who was put in jail by Kennex’s father. Dorian gets his first performance review after being reactivated.
First aired: March 3, 2014.
What do you think? Do you like the Almost Human TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for another season?
PLEASE, bring it back. Pretty please, with sugar on top & honey on the bottom bring Almost Human back. with!?
FOX made a really BIG mistake! WHY was this show canned? It was great , original, the plot was interesting and I look forward to the unfolding past stories on the cop & the robot. And let’s not forget the dam WALL! What was on the other side I guess I’ll never know! Please reconsider…maybe the show can go to cable…oh we’ll. So disappointed.
Excellent show. Great acting and special effects. The story lines were unpredictable, which is great as well. Seems when a really good show comes on, people like it, then its cancelled. Bill
This show was so good. I am disappointed it was canceled. It was so good. There was so much more that could and should have happened in this show and I am sad its not coming back on. What’s wrong with the person that cancels all these great shows? All the people I know watched this show and loved it and couldn’t stop talking about it. We were all so sure there would be more seasons I mean how could there not be? It was just that good. BIG MISTAKE whoever took this off the air. I haven’t heard a… Read more »
Sorry it was cancelled. Only show I looked forward to. Loved the show. You guys made a big mistake. I miss it already.
Really too bad. I watched the eps in order and the slow build of getting to know the characters, the technology and the “city” was really going somewhere. What is this WALL and why is it there? What is beyond it? There were other puzzles posed as well, all of which bore further examination. I really hope another network picks up this show. I love it. But UH-OH! Even though I have money to spend, I’m not in the “Target Demographic” … WTF is with that BS. FOX has cancelled the marvellous “Firefly” and now “Almost Human” — two shows… Read more »
Fox you suck. Every time you get a good show you cancel for Crap
I LOVED THE SHOW, Leave it to fox to let a good thing go Like they did with firefly!
yes and I would like to see if scifi channel can get it, I hope they can !!! now i am down to one show on cbs and orphan black on bbc america
I found out last night that Almost Human was being pulled and my wife and I were shocked! We both enjoyed watching the show and recorded then on our dvr because we like them so much. It’s a true shame that some shows seem to be extended when by all rights they never should have aired and yet a fantastic show like Almost Human wasn’t given a chance. VERY UN HAPPY!
I am sad, I really liked the show. It had humor, good story lines, a reasonable backstory. At the very minimum it wasn’t your typical crime/cops story, like so many TV series out there. It was original. Too bad Fox couldn’t have faith in this show.
I think it should come back it was a very good show. It reminded me of terminator. I would like to see what’s going to happen next why is it gave me my name is something more in common. I love it I say bring it back, bring it back!!!
What on Earth? Finally, a sci fi cop show that was enjoyable and it gets cancelled while Two Broke Girls continues?
I have an idea – lets all to the S_F_ channel and ask them to pick up this series!!! Come on folks – lets work together
YES! I totally concur
CAN’T BELIEVE THEY CANCELED THIS ONE!!! Really great show — HOPEFULLY ANOTHER NETWORK WILL PICK IT UP This would be great on the SyFy Channel.
How sad and disappointing that FOX didn’t give this great series a second season to prove itself. A wonderful show with some great characters and enjoyable interaction. FOX you made a big mistake….!!
I can’t believe Almost Human was canceled. It was a quality production, interesting characters and gave an incite to future technology and how humans will incorporate new technology into our daily lives. It was great! I would have voiced my dismay sooner, but I thought the series had been renewed. Unbelievable, that was the only show I watched on FOX.
