CBS is hoping for killer ratings with their new murder mystery series, American Gothic. It seems like it’s been conceived as a one season series but, if it’s successful enough, they’ll surely find a way to bring it back (ala Wayward Pines and Under the Dome) for season two. If it’s a flop, the show could be cancelled and pulled off the air. What will happen? Stay tuned.
The first season of American Gothic revolves around a well-to-do Boston family. The Hawthornes are reeling in the wake of the chilling discovery that someone in their midst may be a serial killer. The cast includes Virginia Madsen, Juliet Rylance, Justin Chatwin, Stephanie Leonidas, Gabriel Bateman, Megan Ketch, and Elliot Knight.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This TV was excellent with MANY unexpected twist. Very creative writing! I highly recommend this TV to ALL PEOPLE. I just finished the season today. I will be recommending it to friends and family. If you have not seen it, you must! Definitely needs continued seasons!!!!
This show deserves multiple Emmy’s! Unfortunately, most mainstream networks don’t truly appreciate extremely cerebral, well written, well acted and well filmed shows, like American Gothic and Damien (which fell victim to the shallow, vapid and superficial American viewership). I sincerely hope that CBS will see beyond the ignorance of the American viewer and RENEW this amazing show!

I want it to be canceled so Justin Chatwin will go back to Shameless. I know, I am a terrible person… but I REALLY MISS jimmy/Steve!!!

I loved this show!! I really didn’t expect another season because it was advertised as a 13 episode mystery. I am excited that there is a chance it will continue. I hope the writers can do as great of a job if it is renewed!!
Please please renew this series! It kept me guessing throughout the season. There’s plenty of directions season 2 could take and I’m sure there’s more skeletons in the Hawthornes’ closets.
I watched the entire season. I love mysteries and this show kept me guessing. I couldn’t wait until the next episode. I hope the show is renewed. There are many storylines worth exploring.
I just watched the last 2 episodes and was riveted by them. It is a compelling show and should be renewed. There are stories waiting to be told with the young sociopath, his mother, and the newly elected mayor who has followed in her mother’s footsteps. Excellent storytelling. Please keep it going.

I really enjoyed watching the show, every episode kept me wanting more! The writers did an awesome job! I would love for a new story to come back. Sophie left a msg. for Jack saying that she will see him soon, maybe that could tie in with the new story?

Love the show. It has all the drama of a soap opera mixed with the excitement of a murder mystery. The finale left me wanting to see what else will happen with the Hawthorne family, particularly with the demented Mayor and the morbid son who is waiting for his killer mom to return. I hope this show gets renewed!
