The oil may be running dry. Deadline reports that ABC has just reduced Blood & Oil‘s initial episode order down from 13 to 10.
The news comes the same day NBC cut their new drama The Player down from 13 episodes to nine.
Starring Don Johnson and Chace Crawford, Blood & Oil follows a young couple who move to the booming North Dakota oil fields to hit it big. The primetime soap premiered on September 27 to around 6.3 million viewers. But in recent weeks, ratings have declined by almost half.
The series has not been officially cancelled yet and will continue in its current timeslot until the tenth episode airs later this fall.

Please don’t cancel Blood & Oil. Its an awesome show. So good to see Don Johnson back on TV. Give the show a chanc . It just started & alot of people I know luv it alread . Its better than most shows on TV DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW OR WE WONT WATCH ABC AGAIN.
First 3 episodes was boring. I was ready to give up but it got really good. Please at least keep it to finish this storyline. Im sick investing time in NBC shows to have them canceled too soon.

This show is fabulous, especially Don Johnson. Lose the young wife, bring Crawford’s character totally into the Briggs household…long lostbson Hap never knew he had, and it can run for ten years. Downplay oil…too many people avouding show cause it celebrates rape of North Dakota. Make these changes, and gimme more DJ!!!!
No one can possibly know whether a show will be a success or not in 2 or 3 episodes (not even the network). Many shows start out slowly and grow into hits (including Miami Vice). ABC needs to give a veteran actor like Don Johnson enough time to cultivate the series before jumping to conclusions.
Really hope Blood & Oil gets canceled soon. The very first episode was a disappointment and I didn’t want to watch more even though it’s a wannabe Dallas rip-off.
Give this show a chance!!! Shame on ABC.

I can’t believe they have cut this to 10. It is just starting to get good. Please ABC do not cancel this show. There are other shows that are so bad and yet they continue to renew them.

I watched it once and it was more then enough. I really didn’t like it. Some if it seemed to come from a low budget show. At least with Dallas, they had a fan base. Had Dallas been brought back to network TV, the ratings would have increased. I think it started off a lil slow now it vBulletin is kicking inn . Hap brigs is awful I want to see his girlfriend turn on him I want billy and the oldan to get prperty back I like the show I don’t want it to cancel

I did not watch Blood and Oil or The Player as I am tired of watching shows that just fall off the map with no respect for the people who do watch. TV executives are akin to morons now and when a show is cancelled, they should at least allow one more episode to create and ending. I rarely watch the regular TV anymore. ABC NBC and CBS are awful.
that’s why I dvr the 1st 5 or 6 episodes and then check this tv series to see if it makes it before I invest my time
ABC should have listen to fans and picked up Dallas, I agree!
