At last night’s Tony Awards, ably hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, some of the stars cancelled TV shows were on hand to sing a song together. Interestingly all of the them had been fired by NBC and the Tonys were on CBS.
Andrew Rannells was a big hit in The Book of Mormon but The New Normal was cancelled (he still has a role on Girls on HBO). Megan Hilty starred in NBC’s Broadway-based Smash series. And finally, Laura Benanti won a Tony for her role in Gypsy but neither of her shows — The Playboy Club or Go On — saw a second season.
Harris, who’s had two long-running TV shows (How I Met Your Mother and Doogie Howser, MD), was there to sing along… and rub it in.

And, in case you missed it, here’s the Tony Awards opening. It’s the best award show opening I’ve ever seen but you can decide for yourself.
What do you think? Did you watch the Tony Awards last night? Do you like Harris as a host?
