Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
I don’t want the series canceled. I really enjoyed the series and the great actors. I think part of the problem is the hour it is being shown. You changed the time from 9:00 am then it was in the afternoon then back to the morning. It should have been on at night. I always taped it. There isn’t much on tv in the summer and this was a great diversion. Bring it back.
Please bring back Cedar Cove!!! ❤❤❤
I don’t think they should have cancelled the show! I wanted to see Jack and Olivia get married, she what happened with Grace’s daughter, see what happened with Olivias daughter! To many unanswered questions.. This was wrong! It was a tremendous show and to end it like that was very unprofessional!! Whoever makes these decisions shows no thought to there audience and we should be the ones that count!!! I was very disappointed with the ending.
You shouldn’t cancel cedar cove. We all have to stay home. Cedar Cove is one of the few enjoyable things to watch on TV.
I loved Cedar Cove each day. please bring it back.
I have been watching Cedar Cove now and got hooked and had no idea it would end suddenly and so abruptly. I assumed it would be on again today, but you have Perry Mason instead. I have never watched a soap opera in the past but now with COVID 19, it was nice to have this series with some pretty good acting and great scenic photography. It makes me want to go to Vancouver where it was filmed. I was starting to get a little bored but I still wanted to see some resolution so you know which man Olivia… Read more »
I am so sad that I will not be able to see
cedar
cove. Please finish the showing of the rest of the story. Where can I see the rest of the show.
I absolutely LOVED Cedar Cove, I am heartsick that you took it off. The little town it was set in and the actors were perfect. Even my husband watched every episode. Very disappointed in you Hallmark, poor judgement on your part taking it off the air. No respect for any of viewers not to even warn them it was going off the air. You just lost a faithful viewer!!!
I was very disappointed on August 17, 2020 at 9am to watch Cedar Cove not on. There was no mentioning of it going off tv. Especially no ending to the episode left us high and dry
I would love to have it come back at least with a proper ending.
Very very disappointed and I watch Hallmark channel faithfully every day.
Should have not been cancelled; very disappointing
Please complete the series who actualy enjoyed watching it.
Hello, Please at least finish the Cedar Cove story for us that enjoyed the show. I am very disappointed. Or share a venue that it can be a completed story for us to see the whole show. This isn’t like Hallmark. Carol Wagner
Very disappointed!!
Hello- To my dismay,You interrupted Cedar Cove twice now. Yes please at least finish the story for us that enjoyed the show. I am truly disappointed.
You absolutely should not have ended this in the middle of the series. Here today gone tomorrow. What a disappointment . Poor judgment!
So, I’m one of the the people who never saw the advertising of the show during its regular run but since discovering Cedar Cove in the mornings on HallMark, I cannot get enough. The characters are so real to someone like me who have just live through some of the experiences of the characters including Olivia. The truth about divorce, redemption, forgiveness, kindness, resilience and support were all themes of the show. It’s too bad that television about real housewives or other dark side are given more attention than kindness and family especially during America’s recognition of women’s contributions, indifference… Read more »
