ABC Family execs must like what they see in Chasing Life.

The cable channel has ordered seven additional installments before the new drama has even premiered. This brings the first season order tally to 20 episodes.

Based on the successful Televisa Spanish-language Mexican series Terminales, the show revolves a young and ambitious newspaper reporter (Italia Ricci) who tries to balance her career aspirations with helping to take care of her family. Just as things start to look up at work, home, and in romance, April learns that she has cancer. Others in the cast include Mary Page Keller, Haley Ramm, and Richard Brancatisano.

Chasing Life will premiere sometime in 2014.
