In its freshman installment, the Code Black TV show earned low ratings for a CBS TV series. Instead of cancelling though, the network renewed it, with the requisite cast changes. Its numbers fell further last year, but it still wasn’t cancelled, probably thanks to licensing deal concessions. Will the third season see the audience grow or further diminish, and if so, how low can it go? Will Code Black be cancelled or renewed for season four? Stay tuned. **Status update below
A CBS medical drama, Code Black stars Marcia Gay Harden, Luis Guzmán, Rob Lowe, Boris Kodjoe, Harry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth, William Allen Young, Emily Tyra, Noah Gray-Cabey, Emily Alyn Lind, and Moon Bloodgood. The story unfolds at Angels Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles — the busiest, most notorious ER in the country. The high patient volume dwarfs the resources available to the exceptional staff — creating a condition known as Code Black. .
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
7/19 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The second season of Code Black averaged a 0.97 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.984 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Code Black TV series? Should this CBS TV show have been cancelled or renewed for season four?
**5/24/2017 Status Update: Code Black has been cancelled by CBS. Details here.
Please reconsider cancelling Code Black!!! This is an awesome show with an incredible cast and powerful storylines!!! I love this show!!!
Please reconsider this decision and renew Code Black. CBS, this is a show to be proud of.
can’t believe it has been cancelled. I love this show. I think it’s actually better than Chicago Med. Wish they would reconsider.
I totally agree with you
I have come to see networks do not care about the baby boomers !
On 6-6-18 code black was fantastic. I was surprised when they mentioned help syndrome which is an actual disease. It’s very rare and can be fatal . I nearly lost my daughter and granddaughter because of it. This is a huge mistake cancelling this show . Other cancelled shows have been renewed this is one of those shows
LOVE CODE BLACK HAVE WATCHED MEDICAL DRAMA SHOWS FOR 40 YEARS AND THIS IS THE BEST. SICK OF REALITY SHOWS AND VIOLENT TV
Best show on tv……..really cbs? Open your eye….pun intended.
Don’t cancel this program. So nice to have smart TV with deep characters. So much better than all the garbage shows.
Couldn’t wait for return of code black . Don’t cancel it . This is one of my favorite shows and I may not fall into your age range but this is an excellent show

ER doctors, staff doctors & support a free Best hospital show on Now…maybe 1 of Best All time. Please leave on, Great Cast, Storylines, filming etc. Send positive messages! Please keep. Thank You Fred Plessner P.T.
Why would you cancel a show with Rob Lowe and Marcia Gay Harden?! Love the show and love the characters!!!
Darn. Love this show and the characters. It’s the best medical drama on television.
Best medical show on the air. Decent ratings. Shame it was cancelled.
TWO HOURS of Code Black with virtually the same ratings for both hours (.7).
Code Black received significantly higher ratings than the lead-in “SEAL Team”(.5). SEAL Team was picked up and Code Black was cancelled. I just don’t see the CBS logic here…I guess it’s because there wasn’t any.
Code Black was one of the most interesting programs available.
ClLove Code Black. Is it cancelled because it’s an intelligent show amid tv garbage?
