After 10 seasons, it’s time for David Caruso to turn in his sunglasses. CBS has cancelled CSI: Miami, the first show in the CSI franchise to end.
Starting in 2002, the TV series follows a South Florida team of forensic investigators who often use advanced scientific methods to solve crimes. The current cast includes Caruso, Adam Rodriguez, Emily Procter, Eva La Rue, Jonathan Togo, Omar Benson Miller, and Rex Linn.
The ratings for CSI: Miami have declined over the years. Season 10 averaged a 2.1 in the coveted 18-49 demographic with 9.85 million total viewers. That was down from season nine by 13% in the demo (vs a 2.4 rating) and down by 5% in viewership (vs 10.39 million).
While the cop show’s overall viewership is still impressive, advertisers want shows that cater to the demo audience and the network has many shows that attract big overall audiences.

What’s more, after 10 seasons on the air, CSI: Miami is no doubt very expensive to produce and there are already 232 episodes, more than enough to keep running in syndication for many years.
Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, suggested that one of the CSI shows might be cancelled this month. The original CSI was already renewed so it was a guessing game to see if Miami or NY would bite the bullet. CSI: NY has reportedly been renewed for season nine.
Of the cancellation news, CBS released the following statement:
CSI: Miami leaves an amazing television legacy – a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade. We thank all the producers – led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue — and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons. Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of CSI: Miami in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that CSI: Miami has been cancelled? Will you miss the show? Was it time for it end or would you have liked to have seen an 11th season?

Stupid CBS…..just plain STUPID. Your best move would be to bring it back. But you are not known for your best moves.
Why would you cancel this show with the way you ended season 10 tours just rude to all the csi fans that love the shows. Now all of us still get to sit here wonder if natalia would have drowned or if she would’ve been saved thanks so much cbs maybe you should cancel some of the dumb new shows you have put up and leave the good ones there!
WOW! Just wow CBS Nice move by cancelled the best CSI TV show BRAVO!!!
CSI Miami is one of the best crime scene showcase series ever . I don`t even know why CBS televesion would think to cancel on of the show that claiming success not just in the USA , but worldwide too .
We`d love to see more seasions of that Serie , beacuase it`s the best in that field .
csi miami is the favorite cop movie in the planet no other cop movies is loved that much as csi miami. Any website you start the search whit csi it auto comes miami many people will be crushed because of the mistake cbs have done. I got a question for the cbs. Why did you shows to put down csi miami? Why not other series? Maybe because csi miami is not on the screen any more many people would stop watching other series and movies from cbs
CSI: Miami in my option and students at the University of the West Indies is one of the most electrifying cop series you can find, having its own unique style and flavour. Cancelling a series of that nature was not the best call and I personally would love to see it be placed back on the air.
What I would like to know is how they could end season ten with Calleigh adopting two children, and leaving it at that? The last episode left the entire series open to so much possibility; just take a look at the damage Sam caused Ryan. There could be some amazing emotional plot lines twisted around that one character. I can understand that interest might have begun to fizzle out, but they didn’t have the emotion that was charged in the final episodes of season ten. I feel that it’s premature to cancel season 11 now.
Please return CSI: Miami that is my favorite TV show ever. I love Emily Procter and Adam Rodriguez so much. I can’t imagine way you cancelled it,that is so sad. This is very bad decision so many people from all over the world love it. It have no sence!!!We wont more of CSI: Miami pleaseeee give it back for us!
I can’t imagine them canceling the show. I just finished all the seasons in it and was looking forward to season 11 and come to find out that its no more. I’m going to miss it so much. It is far better then all of the other CSI shows
Here in the Netherlands we love CSI Miami! I can not imagine that this serie does not sell good in foreign countries. So why not make season 11?
