What’s in store for the big return of Curb Your Enthusiasm? Recently, the cast and producers of the HBO TV show discussed what fans can expect from season nine, via The Hollywood Reporter.

The comedy, which stars Larry David as himself, has been on a hiatus since its eighth season ended in 2011. Returning cast members include JB Smoove, Cheryl Hines, Ted Danson, Mary Steenburgen, Jeff Garlin, and Susie Essman.

At the summer TCA press conference, Larry David explained why he brought Curb Your Enthusiasm back for another season:

I’m not a misser. I don’t really miss things, people that much, but I was missing it and I was missing these idiots so I thought, ‘Yeah, what the hell? And I got tired of people asking is the show coming back? I couldn’t get asked that question anymore and I wasn’t ready to say no, never.”

Later, executive producer Jeff Schaffer revealed that season nine will get “crazy”:

You’re going to find out very quickly when the show starts what’ he’s been up to the for last five years and what everyone has been up to for the last five years. Once the show starts to air, it will be self-evident. … It goes to this really strange, fun, crazy place and then you’ll never expect where it ends.”

The new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm premieres on HBO on October 1st at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

The Emmy(R)- and Golden Globe-winning comedy series CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, starring Larry David, returns for its ten-episode ninth season SUNDAY, OCT. 1 (10:00-10:30 p.m. ET/PT), on HBO. The show stars “Seinfeld” co-creator David as an over-the-top version of himself in an unsparing but tongue-in-cheek depiction of his life.

The new season brings back cast favorites Cheryl Hines as Cheryl, Jeff Garlin as Jeff, Susie Essman as Susie and J.B. Smoove as Leon, as well as series veterans Richard Lewis, Bob Einstein, Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen.

Also appearing on CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM this season are Elizabeth Banks, Ed Begley, Jr., Carrie Brownstein, Bryan Cranston, Lauren Graham, Jimmy Kimmel, Nick Offerman, Nasim Pedrad and Elizabeth Perkins.

Season nine directors include Jeff Schaffer, Larry Charles, Robert B. Weide, Jessie Nelson and Bryan Gordon.
