As you may recall, ABC recently announced that they were reworking their Wednesday night schedule (in preparation for the return of Fox’s American Idol). That left fans of Day Break out in the cold as the Taye Diggs series would be pulled from the schedule after the December 27th episode had aired. There was some hope and speculation that the series would be moved to another night. We now know that’s not going to happen.
The Lost-replacing series Day Break has been pulled from the schedule even earlier than expected. The ratings for Day Break have continued to fall since its debut and the latest was no exception. The sixth episode, entitle “What If They Find Him,” attracted only 3.1 million households. As a result, ABC has yanked the drama effective immediately. Repeats of George Lopez and According to Jim will fill 8-10pm Wednesdays for the next two weeks (both sitcoms begin new seasons in January on Wednesday nights).
There are seven unaired episodes and, as of now, there are no plans to air them on the network (joining fellow dramas The Nine and Six Degrees). The good news is that ABC has said they will post the remaining episodes online, with a new episode being posted every Thursday for the next seven weeks. They may decide to release the episodes for purchase online via iTunes but I’m guessing that will have a lot to do with viewer demand.
American, come on and reclaim your intelligence. It seem to me that if a show doesn’t include black on black crime and white trash it doesn’t last long on the air. What is wrong with this picture? I guess the saying is correct that arrogence is power! Must we continue to live our lives as prisoners of ignorance. Step out of your comfort zone and try viewing something with substance that challeneges our thinking ability and intelligence.
Who are the idiots spending mad money on episodes that will never air, turning their backs on the best show they ever had (LOST) to make way for the worst shows ever!!! Does ABC have money to burn or what? Besides all that, just when TV got good(LOST) some idiot ruins it. Ill go ahead and say it. ABC – you just “lost” the biggest audience youll ever hope to find for any of your BS shows…..Hope you had fun pushing “day break” getting people into it , then taking it away, like you did for al lthe LOST fans…… Read more »

I can’t believe it wont be back this sucks!!!
I am going through some serious Taye Diggs withdrawal. The man can act – no more Brett Hopper and no more Kevin Hill. What’s a girl to do? I concur with the masses – ABC sucks!
Day Break was it. You Studio Exec’s really screwed up. If I was your boss you would be fired. Do your selves and us a favor and put Day Break back on. An inside source say’s Day Break had Golden Globe potential before you pulled it.
I am absolutely disgusted with ABC for cancelling such a terrific show as Daybreak. Even though the series was to air for only 1 season, I was still hooked to the show. To add insult to injury, ABC decided not to air the remaining episodes. ABC should be ashamed of themselves…
I really hate this. I just found out the show was cancelled. I thought it had really short seasons and would be on again soon. How disappointing! I agree with everyone else, ABC sucks! I have to say Daybreak was the only show I watched on ABC and now, I don’t think I’ll ever watch another show again on this network. Too bad so sad ABC! You just lost a lot of viewers. Good luck with your re-runs!
You know I was really getting into this show and seeing Taye Diggs every week was nice. I am really disappointed to see that it is pulled. I think it was never really given a chance. the holiday season it not a fair run for a show- people are pretty busy with things then. I wish you could give it another chance!!!
At least ABC should write a press release telling everyone what happened and what was causing this event to repeat on the same day – it is driving me mad!!!
Just read from the Chicago Tribune that the remaining episodes will be made available online by the end of February. The delay is apparently due to music licensing issues. Check out the details here…and spread the word!

Thank you ABC!
wow…. what was abc thinking, who ever gave the OK to cancel should be fired
i hate how these shows are only kept soley by ratings, it’s not the shows fault of poor ratings, it’s its timeslot
good shows are dropping off like flies, and network TV wonder why cable channels are becoming more successful
how come internet viewings are taken into consideration??
i feel bad for taye diggs, great actor but these networks are killing him.. first upn and now abc
we should fill abc mailroom and website with complaints till they put daybreak back on
