As you may recall, ABC recently announced that they were reworking their Wednesday night schedule (in preparation for the return of Fox’s American Idol). That left fans of Day Break out in the cold as the Taye Diggs series would be pulled from the schedule after the December 27th episode had aired. There was some hope and speculation that the series would be moved to another night. We now know that’s not going to happen.
The Lost-replacing series Day Break has been pulled from the schedule even earlier than expected. The ratings for Day Break have continued to fall since its debut and the latest was no exception. The sixth episode, entitle “What If They Find Him,” attracted only 3.1 million households. As a result, ABC has yanked the drama effective immediately. Repeats of George Lopez and According to Jim will fill 8-10pm Wednesdays for the next two weeks (both sitcoms begin new seasons in January on Wednesday nights).
There are seven unaired episodes and, as of now, there are no plans to air them on the network (joining fellow dramas The Nine and Six Degrees). The good news is that ABC has said they will post the remaining episodes online, with a new episode being posted every Thursday for the next seven weeks. They may decide to release the episodes for purchase online via iTunes but I’m guessing that will have a lot to do with viewer demand.
IM SO SICK OF ABC CANCELING SHOWS LIKE DAYBREAK, FREDDIE, SOUTH BEACH, ABC SUCKS!!! SERIOUSLY PUT ON A SERIES AND KEEP IT , NOT STUPID SHOWS LIKE NANNY 911 OR SUPERNANY
I have to admit that I didn’t start watching daybreak until I missed an episode of DHW & Greys and had to watch on-line. I ran out of episodes and started watching Daybreak on my computer. I became hooked a few weeks before they yanked it. I really really really liked that show. Wish they would have continued it!!
MAN THIS SUX! I just found out Day Break isn’t coming back on. I dont get ABC, this was an awesome show!! I hope they get smart and bring it back on, even to another night if they have to. It’s very disapointing, i’ve been waiting and waiting to see how this was going to play out and now were just left hanging. But this isnt the first time they have dropped a really good show. They dropped Invasion last year and left us hanging on that too! That was another really intriguing show.
ABC is putting the remaining episodes on-line. So far 5 of them are up, at least for a limited time. The other two are to appear on the site the next two Mondays.
Wow… so everyone seems to agree that ABC is full of a bunch of Disney insane idiots.
I really hope they post this show on iTunes. ABC doesn’t air it’s shows online to people outside the US, and I fell in love with this show after the first episode. It’s so cool, and I look forward to it more then 24, or Lost, almost as much as BSG.
I WANT DAY BREAK BACK….THIS SUCKS YOU CAN’T JUST SCRAP SUCH A GREAT SHOW….I’D TRADE AMERICAN IDOL FOR DAY BREAK IN A MINUTE..
a very good show Just bring it back!!!!!!
So this show is available online- will end with the 13th episode which will be a finale as written- the shows are in the can from what I hear so they are just dragging it out- but I have having tech. probelms with the last ep available online- can’t play the last 12 minutes!!! frustrating as I absolutely love this show- best I have see in years.
aBC- fix the eps. online so it views right!
Great show! Every actor was great! Moon Bloodgood was worth watching the show for by herself!
In my opinion Daybreak is a far superior show to Lost.
OH WELL… I don’t think the numbers are ever right for ratings.
Weren’t there suppose to be 13 episodes? Appears as if they edited those last 7 or so into 4 shows.
Mike, it will be written as the series finale because the show was originally designed to be 13 episodes long (to fill in for the 13 weeks that Lost was off the air). So keep watching!
I just watched 2 episodes on-line, with 2 more available when I have time. Looks like there will be 3 more posted before they are done. Done? Any chance that we’ll get some closure?
I don’t expect to be happy after watching the last show, I’d be blown away if it was written as a series finale.
BP, Check out the ABC Episode viewer (available from the ABC.com home page, not the Daybreak page). I’ve watched the first two of the unaired episodes and they DO start from where the show had left off so you must have missed the Dec. 13th episode.
Either way, it appears that all episodes of the show are available on the episode viewer. And I must admit that the quality of ABC’s episodes have surpassed those I’ve seen from NBC and FOX.
BTW, these first two new episodes have been OUTSTANDING!!!
ON-LINE EPISODE “What If He’s Not Alone” is unavailable. Good God ABC….can’t you get anything right? I tried to view Daybreak where it left off, and YOU have made episodes 8, 9, and 10 available. Episode 7 was never shown! It’s obvious YOU don’t KNOW or CARE about this series. Maybe since the Pilot consisted of 2 episodes, it threw you for a loop. Get your act together PLEASE! I was also disappointed that the “aired” episodes are also unavailable, such as the pilot. You oviously don’t care about attracting new viewers to this show. YOU ARE SO FRUSTRATING!!!
new epsiodes on ABC.com. 3 i think.
Watched 1 last night. This show just gets better and better!
