To absolutely no surprise, NBC has cancelled Do No Harm, their new Thursday night drama. The network has pulled it from the schedule already, leaving 10 episodes unaired.
Do No Harm revolves around Jason Cole, a neurosurgeon with an unusual dilemma. Every night at 8:25pm, he becomes someone else — an alternate and evil version of himself who goes by the name Ian Price. Jason has managed to keep his alter ego from appearing, thanks to medication. Unfortunately, the serum stops working suddenly and Ian appears, more dangerous than ever.
The TV show features the talents of Steven Pasquale, Alana de la Garza, Ruta Gedmintas, Phylicia Rashad, Mousa Kraish, Michael Esper, John Carroll Lynch, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Samm Levine.
The series premiered last week to just a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.12 million total viewers. Those were incredibly bad numbers.
How bad? It’s the lowest demo rating for a scripted series premiere in television history among the four major broadcast networks.
Since the pilot was released online a couple weeks before the television airing, might more people tune in for episode two? Nope. The second installment saw the ratings drop even further — to a 0.7 rating with 2.21 million viewers.
NBC has wasted no time in cancelling Do No Harm and reruns of Law & Order: SVU will fill the timeslot for the immediate future.
Production of the 12 episodes of Do No Harm was completed last month so this leaves 10 episodes unaired. There’s no word on when or if NBC will release them.
What do you think? Did you like Do No Harm? Why do you think so few people gave it a chance? What did you like about it?
The show was great! It was one of few series my wife and I both liked. NBC…you guys blow.
We loved it. I am so sick of shows being cancelled just when they start having a good plot. They cancelled 666 park avenue and left us hanging, now just when you think there is a show sorth watching other than all the sitcoms they pull it.
They don’t give new tv series a chance. They cancel them before anyone even knows they’re on. I think this show deserved a chance. If networks keep canceling shows without giving them a proper chance, no one is going to bother watching anymore.
Bummer! I really enjoyed what I saw!
Do No Harm is a great show! I was really looking forward to the season, the first two episodes were pretty good in my opinion. NBC needs to cancel other shows and air this one.
Great Show, NBC is retarded and people who do not enjoy the reality crap that is on TV have to suffer. Not to mention Thursday night is probably the toughest night of TV to compete with and NBC only gave it two hours to captivate an audience. Not enough time for people who DVR, Hulu or On Demand to even have time to check it out and start watching it in real time. I just watch the first two episodes back to back and love it. Pathetic NBC.
This show was fabulous! Thanks to the sneak preview, I began to watch the first episode while it was DVRing because I was so anxious to see it! I could not believe when the third episode disappeared from my DVR schedule! You Put this show against Elementary, which I hear is the best new drama on television-I don’t watch or DVR it-and then you are disappointed by numbers. YOU HAVE TO GIVE IT TIME! Please at least air the rest of the episodes! Then see how it does.
Now I am disappointed. This looks like a really good intriguing show. I was trying to set my DVR up to record every episode, but there were no more. What can you expect from the network that dropped Star Trek without insight or foresight. Hey, Netflix, you look for good shows to pick up this looks like a really good opportunity for you to get a low budget excellent show to build your content base. This show had excellent potential and I hope somebody picks up thbowl
OMG. I skipd 2 episodes of Elementary to check this out. NBC, get rid of some of the other crap & put this show in a better time slot. 1600 Penn? Paleeeez. Another Office..Parks..Community..god I hate those effing shows!! Betty White 2fers..god love her..but come on.. Ninja Warrior on Saturday. OMG NBC, DO SOMETHING..you’re embarrassing yourselves.
No way! Here I was planning to watch it tonight! It was the only TV show I actually liked. I think the title may have been misleading–maybe made some people think it was just a run of the mill medical show. SO SAD.
Please bring it BACK!!!!!! At least air the remaining episodes!
I DON”T GET IT! “Do No Harm ” had me on edge! they should keep it going & THEN see what everyone thinks. I thought it was 100 % original and kept the questions rolling. As a matter of fact, I HATED it when it would end for the hour it was on! GIVE IT A CHANCE! OR ATLEAST FINISH THE SEASON!
Totally agree! Best thing on TV in a while!
This show was so great…. For once something like no others.
I realy liked the plot and the conplexity of the characters. I do hope that they
will air the rest of the season ( 10 episodes left )or at least but them on itune so that
we can purchase them .
wow, the show didn’t even get a chance… I liked the first two episodes. I hope NBC airs the rest.
I don’t think it was really given a fair chance. I liked that it was quite different from anything else on tv right now and minus some of the cliched elements of other shows.
I did not tune in… I DVR. I watch it a 2am in the morning. This show is great! You suck NBC. I love the roller coster ride through the whole show. More stupid Lawyer and crap shows stay and you get rid of great stuff.
